IMO the crown sponsor badge is much to high on the storms jersey, it makes the jersey look stupid. It would be much better located half way done the jersey instead of a few cenimetres from the collar

This topic was actually good in that we could discuss sponsorship deals etc but it has just descended into trash talk. Could we please get back to topic in hand.

Last good sponsorship announcement was Hyundai, a welcome return to the game.
Is there a limit to the amount of sponsors a club can have on their strip ( 5? 2front, 1back, 1sleeve, 1shorts)? And is there a percentage limit to the sponsor coverage of the jersey?

I know we need sponsors but I hope our jerseys don't become billboards.

I'm sure you mean 2 back, 1 front, 1 sleeve. Also I think you can have 2 shorts but not 100% on that

Yeah, 2 on the back, below and above the numbering. Which brings me to another pet hate and question. Do the numbers have to be a set size? The pet hate is when clubs incorporate the number colour into the jersey design like a fashion statement making them very hard to read. Numbers should be the most contrasting colour possible to the jersey colour and different to the back of jersey sponsor as well. A small detail but an important one if your at the ground or new to the game.

I dont know why they have to out the blue square behind they crown symbol on the storms jeresy. Would have looked alot better just on the purple. The blue square even goes over the lighting bolts on the side....

Have you ever seen the Crown logo? The blue square is part of the logo.

It's a joke. Unfortunately we're stuck with this place, but if there was a better NRL forum option that didn't tolerate these trolls I'd be there in a flash.

Putting the trolls on ignore helps a little, but when moderators like yourself tolerate and contribute to all this off topic rubbish, it sets the quality bar low.

And yes I'm well aware I'm now contributing to the off topic stuff, but no action is taken, so no point me showing forum etiquette when the idiots don't. There is a clear policy of quantity over quality which is a real shame.

And Timmah/dodge, I know you'll just belittle me in reply because in over many years of reading your posts, I know you can't take criticism. You have the option here to admit the quality of discussion is poor in general at the moment, but you won't.
With all due respect, someone being a moderator has nil to do with it. As is written in the forum guidelines, moderators are members first, and moderators second.

There is a little red and white button in the top right hand corner of every post - the report button. If you believe the post is breaking guidelines, you are well within your rights to use that function.

For the record, I'm as annoyed as you that trolls like Bunniesman and former trolls like BBSF and co are/were allowed to hang around on here for any length of time, and I'm annoyed that they continue to thread hi-jack.

As for the personal criticism, that really isn't necessary.

Lol @ the hypocrisy.

But anyways, you complain about me going off topic when I've since made posts in this thread completely on topic to get it back on track while you and your mates like Saint Doc keep going off topic.

So to say I "highjack" threads is completely off the mark. And while some of us went slightly off topic there wasn't any ontopic discussion at the time so we weren't disrupting anything. Now on this page there has been on topic posts and you guys are doing nothing better than what we did. At least we did it at a quieter time in the thread.

No I haven't seen it. You would still be able to tell it was crown with out the blue square behind it.

If you take away the blue box the Crown logo would still be over the lightning bolts, unless they make the logo smaller and cut the bottom of the bolts (or lines) on the heritage jersey.

There's no legitimate reason why they should do that though because for one they shouldn't have to make their logo smaller seeing as they're paying a million odd bucks to show it and two, as mentioned the blue box is actually a part of their logo/branding and no company should have to compromise that just for the sake of making a jersey look better. Especially given they're paying the big bucks.

It could be much worse, we could still be stuck with that disgusting green ME bank logo like last year, compared to that montrosity the Crown logo is 100% better even with the box. That said ME bank were paying the money so had every right to have their logo the way they wanted.

Im not one of those people who complains about companies pouring money into our game through sponsorships.

But watching the Storm game live last Monday night, the "clean" back of the jersey is actually very striking and visually very easy on the eye.

I thought the same thing when Souths vs Balmain at the SCG a while ago in an ad-less jersey and also in the 2008 SCG test and the heritage game of the 2008 Origin series.

Even just getting rid of the shoulder sponsors makes a big difference to the attractiveness of the jerseys.

The Storm should never have had the lightning bolts loose across the middle of the jeresy.

Looks good without a sponsor, but hideously messy with a sponsor. They are due for a new jeresy next year aren't they? Maybe small bolts that don't extend beyond the club/NRL logos.

Whilst sponsorship ruining jerseys is a necessary evil of todays game (even tho some clubs, eg the chooks, dragons do it alot better than others) the one that still gets me is seeing a big VB logo splattered on the Australian jersey. Really wish we could get rid of that one

I disagree that it is a necessary evil. Or at least to the extent that it covers our jerseys. Look at how small and out of the way sponsors are on AFL jerseys. Because their clubs do such a good job of attracting crowds and members.

With the way we're improving in those departments, especially members, hopefully we eventually get to the point where we can afford to have slightly cleaner jerseys.
