Creagh and Gallen just locked in 2 spots in the back row. Greg Bird will be the third, unless Luke Lewis somehow makes it back. Snowden will be there. Idris will probably be suspended. And like it or lump it, Morris will be picked. He's not going to look very involved in a match where 90% of the attacking plays went to the right, and with a centre who never passes it (Idris) on the odd occasion it did go left. He did have a number of carries, but they were all hit ups coming out of our end.

Well I'm going to kick it off.

1 Hayne (very close contest, Hayne made some uncharacteristic errors but was more potent in attack)
2 Gorden (very strong, id pick him)
3 Gasnier (picks himself)
4 Jennings (dangerous in space, Josh morris was camped out on the wing for some unkown reason)
5 Uate (Morris didn't do anything in the test match and Uate was very strong)
6 Soward (looked dangerous with the ball in hand)
7 Pearce (I can't split them, pearce passing was better but mullens kicking was better. I wouldn't complain either way tbh)
8 Snowden
9 Farah
10 Mannah
11 Creigh
12 Bird
13 Gallen (c)

14 Hinchclift
15 Dwyer
16 Leroyd-Lars
17 Toleman

I think in the pack you need the physical props and TLL played very tough, Mannah was strong all night but got limitied minutes and Toleman just edges out Galloway. Dwyer runs great lines and should get a bench spot IMO while Hinchclift has orign writen all over him.

After tonight I'd go:
1. Dugan
2. Hayne
3. Gasnier
4. Gordon
5. Uate

6. Mullen
7. Pearce

8. Tolman
17. Hinchcliffe
10. Snowden
11. Heighington
12. Gallen
13. Bird

14. Houston
15. TLL
16. Mannah
9. Farah

Hinchcliffe was quite simply outstanding tonight. He was always a shot as a bolter having played well for the past few seasons and this season has been his best by far. Tonight I think he did enough to take the starting hooker spot. He was clearly the best hooker (and player) out there tonight and if this is a genuine Origin trial then he has won a spot. He can take the sting out of the Queensland pack. Bring on Farah after the first 20 or so and give him 60 odd minutes, and then use Hinchcliffe as a backrower. The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

Soward is likely to be out so you could go Mullen at 5/8 and Pearce at halfback? A couple of changes I would make but it's a good looking side.

Whats your excuse for the first 8 rounds of the season?

Morris doesnt deserve to be picked. Gordon and Uate should be the wingers, unless Dugan is fullback and than it should be Hayne and Gordon.

Gotta feel for Beau Champion, he was playing quite well until he copped that dislocated shoulder. Jennings was exceptional. Despite the scoreline, I think the City defence was incredible considering how much tackling they did on their own line. It's that kind of grit that the Blues are going to need.

1. Hayne
2. Gordon
3. Gasnier
4. Jennings
5. Uate
6. Mullen
7. Pearce
8. Galloway
9. Farah
10. Tolman
11. Minichiello
12. Gallen
13. Bird

14. Snowden
15. Mannah
16. Shackleton
17. TLL

No one stood up IMO. Idris did a bit, Gallen did his usual great stuff. In the CvC, the cold seemed to really effect play. Looked as if it took an hour for players to get warmed up.

Hinchcliffe was good but not in consideration. Dugan was the better of the fullbacks. I thought Albert Hopoate and Yow Yeh didnt look out of place at all in the arena.

Basically, players either played as they normally did or they had an off night.

Nothing stood out for me.

Galloway was the stand out for me, really staked his claim for a bench position. Should be picked.

Hayne - has done it before for NSW - was just behind Dugan tonight but still FB
Morris - Didnt get too many chances but as Aus wing gets his spot
Gasnier
Jennings - Wow you realise how badly utilised he is at Penrith tonight
Uate - only just over Gordon who was safer
Soward - No other contenders and was dangerous with ball in hand
Pearce - His passing was soo crisp and a great combo with Farah
Gallen
Creagh
Bird
Snowden
Farah = Defensivley awesome tonight making nearly 50 tackles, and he guided his team around and his passing was crisp
Galloway - Was great in the first 20 minutes and got through a lot of defence

Leahroyd Lars - Awesome off the Bench
Mannah - Just behind Galloway
Watmough - Still the most talented
Idris - No where else to play him and has to be in the team

I have assumed Luke Lewis and Kurt Gidley are unavialable through injury

I thought Hayne, Gordon and Pearce cemented their spots in the team tonight. Outside of them TLL had a good game.

Jennings played pretty well. Soward looked good at times.

All in all though I didn't think anyone else stood up. Tolman should still be there though I thought he was quiet tonight.

Galloway was the stand out for me, really staked his claim for a bench position. Should be picked.

He was the first forward mentioned when Ricky Stuart was being interviewed, so hopefully he'll be part of the NSW prop rotation.
