Warriors are exercising their option on Maloney for next year, but Seymour is still without a contract.

Link? I'd like to believe that but this article suggests otherwise...

Speculation on Maloney's future

In form five-eighth James Maloney is refusing to go into details about his future with the Warriors post this NRL season.
Maloney was again a stand out in the Warriors win over the Knights but is reportedly in talks with Souths to take up a contract there next season.
He says ideally he'd like to stay but it's not as easy as that.
Maloney says he's happy where is and is leaving his manager to do the talking.
The Warriors win over the Knights has firmed their position in the top eight.

When you're after a player the first thing you check is his contract status. I'd assume if we are after him then the reports about his contract with the Warriors are wrong?

Yeah that newstalkzb article is rubbish. The option has been taken for next year, already been like 4 articles on it, with him saying hes glad hes staying.

I think the common assumption among Knights supporters is that Bedsy would play off the bench. Similar role to the one Priddis did for the Saints. I would love to have a 9.Fien 14.Bedsy combo. There should be room with the amount of talk regarding how many players will be shown the door to sign Fien plus some others.

That sucks for De Gois and Hilder if true.

Sure they'll both get picked up somewhere.

Hilder is a backrower, Buderus and Fien signing would not affect his position in the squad.

The only reason he has to play so much hooker is because De Gois can never stay on the park.

I think he's moved there already and will be there for the remainder of this season.

The story from the Eels website yesterday stated he'd be there from next year...

Pirtek Eels sign Ben Roberts

17/05/2011 2:17:12 PM

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels have signed former international Ben Roberts to a two-year-deal from 2012.
Roberts’ signing comes on the back of Chris Sandow’s recent decision to join the Pirtek Eels next year.
Pirtek Eels coach Stephen Kearney said the Bulldogs pivot would provide further depth to the club’s solid base of existing talent.
“Ben’s played at international level and while he’s had a hard run with injuries recently, we know his potential,” Kearney said.
“We’re looking forward to having him with us next year and being a part of what we’re building here.”
Roberts, who last represented the Kiwis in 2007 and has since appeared for Samoa, said he was excited to be joining the Pirtek Eels squad next year.
“I’m happy to have my future sorted and I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career,” Roberts said.
“I’m really excited to be playing under Steve next year and want to thank the Bulldogs for everything they’ve done for me for the past six years.”
Pirtek Eels Chief Executive Officer Paul Osborne said Roberts’ signing was another positive step in the club’s recruitment drive.
“We’re building towards something big here and to sign someone of Ben’s calibre is another great sign of the direction we’re heading,” Osborne said.
“Ben has plenty of experience that will add a lot to our club and I know he’s excited about the opportunity to play under Steve Kearney.”

Surely there are better 5/8s around than Roberts. They'd be at least a few running around in the Qld cup that would be an improvement on Roberts

6. Roberts 7. Sandow is much better than 6. Mortimer and 7 Robson and on the whole no where near as expensive for what we were hoping for.

I agree they are an improvement on Mortimer and Robson but to what degree? If you're going to spend money on players in a team the 6 and 7 along with the 1 and 9 would be up there. Granted Sandow has lifted a few gears this year but I still have doubts over how he'll make the transition to a new side. Sandow would benefit more by having less pressure being put on him in a new side if he had a quality 5/8th playing alongside him. Roberts imo just doesn't cut it.
