NSW hooker Michael Ennis asked to speak to the media about the issue because of his personal experience in visiting the flood-affected areas with his NRL club Canterbury.

"The NSW Rugby League, also my club at the Bulldogs and a lot of these players here did a hell of a lot of work up in Queensland with the floods," Ennis said.

"I'm extremely disappointed ... it was uncalled for."

Benny, although a great player and one of the most passionate NSW players past or present, is a prize moron at times. He's our version of Choppy Close. Good to see some of the Blues players distancing themselves from his comments.

He probably had a gut full of piss and wasn't thinking when he said it, but it was uncalled for and very inappropriate. All he has done is given QLD some decent ammo for Wednesday night, would love to see some sort of post try celebration retort from the boys.

Shows a lot about his character I guess........... He has the opportunity to be humble and apologise but he basically just blew his own trumpet. I repeat, I hope his quote is read out as the boys prepare to run put onto the field on Wednesday.

Basically blamed QLD for it all in his apology:

"I can’t believe it (the response).
"It's State of Origin time and every word you do say gets exemplified (sic) and exaggerated to the nth degree.
"Queensland are very good at cutting and pasting opportunities for them to motivate themselves, and today really typifies exactly what they look for.
"They are certainly opportunists and it's been successful over the years and they continue to do it."

Loved his 'apology' on the MMM breakfast show. Geyer and Johns were doing everything to try and make him say sorry, but Benny just kept digging the hole deeper and deeper.
