Brookvale upgrade

Its up to the club to put a stop to this.

Manly have thousands of fans in the warringah council area. Council elections are only 12 months away.

There isnt another single group in that council area that could have so much say over the elections.

If they get organised , they can make a serious difference.

First Look at the New Vision for Brookvale Park - Media Release

Site Co-ordinator 9:59am, 12 Jul 2011

Internationally renowned design team, McGregor Coxall, has drawn up two initial options for turning Brookvale Oval and Park into a world-class sporting venue and urban village.

The designs are based on nearly a years’ worth of community consultation and outline how the park could be developed to provide the funds needed to upgrade and maintain the aging facility. “These designs have it all”, said Warringah Mayor, Michael Regan. “They keep the trees and parkland that locals love and, best of all, extend our much-loved hill around the oval.”

Under both options, the grassed spectators area or ‘hill’, is extended around three sides of the oval in a horse-shoe shape.

“If this vision is accepted by the community it will give us the opportunity to provide a beautiful new park and facilities for the community as well as secure Brookvale as the home of rugby league and professional sport on the northern beaches”, said Mayor Regan.

Adrian McGregor, project director and principal of McGregor Coxall added; “It is exciting to think how we could lead the world in demonstrating how a professional sporting venue can also become a place for the community to work and play.”

BROOKVALE PARK MASTER PLAN DESIGN OPTIONS
Main Proposals
• Grass 'Hill’ to be extended around three sides of the oval
• Oval moved slightly to north and surface improved
• New stand with undercover seating and modern amenities on eastern side of oval
• Most trees retained
• Extensive improvements to the parkland and play ground including a bicycle loop
• Three new public plazas
• North facing village courtyard
• Spaces are being considered for a range of uses including;
• New community and child care facilities
• New multi sport facilities including cricket nets and netball/basketball courts
• Retail
• Commercial use
• Possible residential units
• Underground car parking

Is there ONE single post you've made anywhere that could be deemed even remotely relevant?

Teenage girls who support a team with so much money they could buy out the catholic church but are STILL utter shit should worry about their own backyard.

Manly would beat your team of halfwitted overpaid tools playing out the back of a Westfield carpark. Surely its time for your afternoon nap?

WTF happens when it rains???

There is less coverage for punters than now. How can it be considered and "upgrade"?

They are more concerned with creating a nice park than securing an NRL club with a decent stadium.

Move to Manly Oval, Bluetongue Stadium, Sunshine Coast or Sydney Football Stadium. Only viable options left without federal government meddling.

A sunny coast move would neatly solve the expansion dilema.

Strike a nerve did I nice beaver  I want the sea eagles to be viable but this points to a relocation the council clearly doesn't want you

No struck nerve. Just asking the question as to whether you have posted anything relevant ever.
I think everyone should hold fire until the next federal election when the Libs get in (does anyone really think they won't?) and then see what comes in the way of funding.
Before the last election the Mad Monk pledged $10 million for upgrades if he got in. I'd dare say there will be intense pressure thrown at State and Federal parties to act on this. The state Libs also pledged $10 million. A hell of alot more is required, but it will be a start.

What astounds me, and I mean REALLY astounds me is the amount of money thrown at other grounds and not a red cent at Brookvale. I know its the safest Liberal seat in the free world, but come on, surely enough is enough.

This "concept" that some pencil necked beaurocrat has dreamed makes me want to laugh it it wasn't such a serious issue. I don;t care what team it is in the NRL, no club should be playing out of a delapidated ground like Brookvale. And no other team should have to play against them there. Quaint is quaint, but health hazard shithouse facilities are another thing entirely.

Bet Gallop is bending over backwards to get funding for his friends out Brookvale way......

Manly are hardly on the verge of going under because of their home ground. As I've mentioned, Manly Oval is looking like a viable option and it would make sense that the Manly club would play out of Manly, it's hardly a revolutionary relocation.

Location wise, Manly oval would be great. it is very close to the ferry wharf and the Manly city centre. But some serious $$ would need to be spent to make an appropriate ground. Where would they get the money from?

This design will turn Brookie into a modern Rat Park minus the flooding.

I like the idea of a move to Manly Oval, however that ground would need some serious work to get up to scratch. I can't see the Tennis Courts disappearing and the roads either side would make ground size limited. A Large Stand on the Park side would be the best option but I wonder if the existing stand would be heritage listed.

This is the worst thing I have ever seen, and I've been to Brookvale recently. This looks like a country park, with a bigger grandstand.
I noticed people talk about Manly Oval, never been there, how bad is the parking?

There isn't any. Side streets are also pretty narrow so I'd imagine they'd be parking free zones if/when an NRL game is played there.
