Joining the Bulldogs ... Des Hasler Photo: Brendan Esposito

Canterbury officials have snuck under the guard of their Manly counterparts and secured the services of Des Hasler.
In a stunning twist in the tug of war for Hasler's services, the two-time premiership-winning coach will head to Belmore in 2013 after serving out the final year of his Sea Eagles deal.
Manly officials were convinced they had their man long term after tabling a three-year extension which, with bonuses, was worth more than $1 million per season. However, the Herald has learned that the Bulldogs have responded by upping their initial $750,000 per year offer and that Hasler has agreed to terms. The Bulldogs will call a press conference for tomorrow to announce the news.

Following the Sea Eagles' civic reception and parade from Brookvale Oval to the Novotel in Manly yesterday, the team joined sponsors, board members and selected guests for lunch at Le Kiosk at Shelley Beach. The intimate gathering of 60 guests, who paid $1000 for the privilege, got their money's worth when emcee John Gibbs interviewed Hasler about his future plans. Hasler again confirmed he would remain at Brookvale for 2012, but when Gibbs pressed him about his intentions beyond that, the coach channelled Tom Cruise's character from the hit movie Jerry Maguire, declaring: "Show me the money!".
While Manly has done that, so too have Canterbury as Hasler's stocks have risen following Sunday's premiership triumph. Only Wayne Bennett - on a deal reportedly worth as much as $10 million over four years - will be able to command more once Hasler joins the Bulldogs.

I think you'll find it's true guys...

Fact of the matter is Hasler came to the Bulldogs intially... His been playing it perfectly though and good on him (He deserves a rich contract)!!! All the leaks have come from Manly in an attempt to stop the move, it worked for 2012 but welcome aboard Hasler...:D

If true, how long can Dessie hold the club together, even Bennett could only hold the Dragons together for so long before it went too peices.

If Manly want to be a chance next year, punt him now IMO.

well then, I doubt the players will be doing it for Des next year, similarly, I don't think the Dogs players will do it for Dymock either!

Fairfax reckon he's going to the dogs. News Ltd are reporting that he has agreed to join both clubs. If the $1million offer from Manly is true, why would he leave to get $750k from a weaker club?

Write off next season for both clubs. DCE will do a Mortimer and Manly will struggle I think.

Will Manly sign Stuart now for 2013

If Bennett couldn't get Saints up this year, then Des and Jim are not going to get their teams up either.

1 million:lol: The base contract wouldn't be more then 550K MAX... It's all incentive based... Also as reported Bulldogs did 'up' It's BASE offer of $750K.

Weaker club?:lol: Maybe on-field this season but on-field success doesn't mean Manly is stronger. Manly have no Money.
