Watmough isn't a fantastic defender either but he is in the side for his running and sideways play the balls.

Seriously upper class locks in the NRL like Harrison, Gallen and Johnson would not have missed that tackle.

Lol at you putting Harrison in there over the best lock in the game, Glenn Stewart.

Well it was a good game I thought.

Both sides really gave it to each other in defence. But Australia's attack was too good. Guys like Smith, Thurston, Lockyer and Lewis all played well.

As for England they did play well, forwards really muscled up in attack and defence. But again it was their mistakes, handling errors that let them down. You just cant afford to do that against a top Australian side.

Bit of a shame for Slater in the end, big blow. No doubt Boyd will do a good job in the next couple of matches.

I thought the refereeing was ok, but some blatant obvious mistakes there.

What about the hit from Watmough on I think Westwood??

Now I am hoping spuddies great britian undies, are all over digs kiwis.

Is Kearney a large faced dud?

Can Rangi show where he should be?

Will the English be fit?

Will Farah destroy the Welsh?

Can Benji lead the way?

Who will meet the formidable Kangaroos?

Lol @ England, failure of a nation at everything they do.

Hopefully Nein ditch the disgracefuly biased commentary feed of the soap dodgers in future tests over there, pathetic to listen to.

Better than listening to f**king Phil Gould call international matches.

He's the worst of the lot of them and I'm so glad he was nowhere near the coverage last night.

Give Widdop a spot in the starting side. He has spent this year carving up in the NRL including plenty of the players on the Australian side.

He should never have been dumped by England last year and not including him in the starting 13 this year is baffling.

Also i still think England are going pretty well. They just need to concentrate on getting through more English juniors and reducing imports into the ESL. I don't think we're that far off England being really competitive on a more regular basis.

Henry showed he was out of his depth. The RLIF should of given control to an English referee as spite for the way Tim Sheens carried on last week. The way our national players and coaches conduct themselves as though they are above the game is why I haven't cheered Australia in a Test for a decade and won't be any time soon.

My sentiments exactly. I hate the Australian attitude. Both in Rugby League and cricket. Never cheer for them. Arrogant pricks. I just hate the way they HAVE to win. That`s not what sport`s about.

If Heighington was English he wouldn't even be in the 24 man squad.

That is actually one of the best comments i have ever read on this forum, so true.

Just on Gareth Ellis, i thought early on he was in great form and his footwork was causing Oz problems so how bad is his injury ?

A fit Ellis could mean the difference between winning and losing next week.

Sinfield at five-eight has me puzzled. He does good things but also very bad things. And he`s hardly a quality goal-kicker. Hasn`t MacNamara seen Widdop play for Melbourne? I`d have him at five-eight. He doesn`t seem comfortable with his utility role. Maybe Sinfield in the 14? He`s been around for a while, too. Widdop`s the up and comer.

For those of you advocating the "best" ref rather than a neutral ref then can you please point out a tournament in the last twenty years where there hasn't been any whinging from one side or the other about the ref? Whoever refs usually cops a bagging. If we have to have a $hite ref then we may as well persevere with $hite neutral refs.

Widdop may be the answer for England but keep in mind most of his good work the past year came off the back of opportunities created by others.

Probably over-hyped at this stage and theres no Cronk or Slater in the England side to hold his hand. Cronk in particular was a massive plus for his game this year.

That's true but Widdop showed he adds something to this England side, even behind an undermanned and tiring pack.

seriously how the hell is that not a sending off?

Because it's become that refs just like to just put dodgy tackles on report rather than making a big game changing decision like send off. Not that i necessarily think it should have been a send off anyway.
