Leave him alone ... Coupe was there in the bad flood times of the 70s and the 80's.

People quickly forget how we lost half our lower grade squad during one ferocious flood. They searched the area for a month and still some bodies were never recovered.

If it wasn't for the leadership and strength of our Club Chaplin at the time, Mr Capsis who knows how our derailed outfit could of lifted itself out of the depths of despair we were in.

Every time I saw that Fin being driven around Endeavour oval I would say to myself..."Thank you George, and thank you blokes like Coupe" The araldite that bonded us together.

Our future is bright

I'm glad to see there are no objections to Gal Tower being over 16 stories quigs. Anthing less than world's highest building would be an insult to the great man.

Actually that should be the developers' only submission: "Gal wants it". Then start building anyway and dare anyone to try to stop it.

Its bloody tiny, isn't it, The Shire. Very small.

Like a lot of minds down that way I'm sure. You could even say that the place and the mindset is a little backwards I reckon.

Having said that, I don't live there, so its none of my business. But I'm just curious as to how many in here in support of the project are from the left and would normally be opposed to development and other tory evils (what have the Romans ever done for us?).

Just curious as to how much ones views of the truth can be tainted when ones own emotions are involved in something this, ummm, emotive?

I am not interested in politics in the slightest.
If the sharks are not breaking any laws ...they can do what
they want with their own land.

They want to go into residential and shopping centers to keep their business going
then good luck to them.

I'm all for the development Ronnie although a long time escapee from Syd-a-ney. The choice is Development or Factories. Simple.

I visit twice a year and think that it will be nothing but an asset to the area. And jobs for the area.

The fantastic aerial shot shows what is currently around that area. It will be beautified and made accessible the general public. It's thunderbirds for me.... all systems go.

Just having seen the recent Qld floods from River flooding and seeing the damage caused to Brisbane, I can't believe the crap being thrown up about the flooding. Lets move Suncorp its more vunerable than Shark Park.

And traffic congestion ???? f**k me. Its all over Syd-a-ney.

Just downright whinging for whinging sake these agin the development. Oil Refinery down the road, factories all around the place... and they have a chance to put in something that is a community asset.

I know when I last stayed at Cronulla we went looking for some nourishment late at night and there was nothing available. This development and what it could offer is needed for the area.

And I think I am a little left biased.

Wish my parents had this view. Im 22 and I literally do not know anyone whos parents have bought them a place to live.

Same. I'm hoping for a 50k deposit. Have a couple of family friends who have helped with a deposit, but I know I'll be paying off my house for life.

That said, who the f**k is going to get a first house at woolooware? Unit at sutho would do me fine.

I know quite a few parents who now realise they will be required to assist their children in getting into the property market.

If you have children, you will realise it is something that just needs to be done.

But why R2Coupe? Even if flooding were a real issue (which IMHO it isn't) how does it affect you? I mean, it's not your property that is on this mythical flood plain anyway.

According to one of your supporters, North Caringbah is only 300m away from this proposal.

Every reason to be concerned the pattern of flooding could be altered by the development.

And remember, this sign below is at the southern end of the new western grandstand not far from Captain Cook Drive. How many other grounds have this sign warning of this danger especially when a huge development of 8 residential towers is proposed immediately adjacent to it?

Like I have mentioned I was in contact with park view
just this morning.
They were very helpful and explained how they will
deal with the miniscule threat of flood.
They also mentioned other spots on the bay that
had to pass a few standard requirements.
They stressed it was common practice for any building to pass the standard requirement.

They know what they are doing.
They are not about to let a 300 million buck development
fall into the bay.

They are not the mob who put up the fence at OKI.

hahahahaha this just gets better and better.

I am LOLing so much, I just can't wait for the next instalment Coupe.

You must be pretty well to do, or a local MP to be sprouting buying your kids homes.

Anyway, like I said maybe buy a couple of units on the 16th floor. Oh wait, there is a remote chance of a tidal wave, maybe you could move them to the blue mountains. hmmm then again, bush fires hey. I know, Engadine, wait...that darn nuc plant is up that way.

Bloody hard to find somewhere where there is no chance of a remote event.

I would think the much bigger concern than flooding would be the concern that it might open the floodgates (excuse the pun) to high level development along the shore line and spoil that coast area. We have had similiar arguments for years at Cottesloe where developers have been pushing for 10+ story developments but the council have resisted and kept it at 5 floors max.
