Not with mature pup at the helm

If Clarke can getting his batting consistent enough to move to #3 then I'd put Watson in at 5 and move him up to 4 when Ponting retires (which could be any time now).

1. Katich
2. Cowen
3. Clarke
4. Ponting
5. Watson
6. Hussey
7. Haddin

Though with retirements looming (notably Ponting, Hussey, Katich and Haddin) things could change quickly. A wicket keeper is always likely to bat at 6 or 7 so that's not much of an issue. I can't see Warner being a 5 or 6 batsmen so it could open the door for Khawaja or someone else lower in the order.

He did bat pretty well in Bellrieve on a bowlers pitch

Yeah, he did. But he's had 7 innings now and produced nothing else of note. And the manner of dismissal is what would frustrate me if I were an Aussie fan...he just goes so hard at the ball.

One assumes he will spend the bulk of 2012 working on that at 1st class level both here and in England.

If he does and he scores heavily at 1st class level, I have him in my team for next summer.

one would have assumed he'd been working on it prviously since it's been there for a f**king age

FFS. Clarke and Ponting need to give us some captains/former captains knock to save us here.

IMO with the frail Hussey and Haddin to come in next we need a 100 + run partnership here.

BTW that clearly wasn't out. Remember he offered a shot.

Healy is such a moron. "Would not have been out if DRS was in play" even though the DRS says at the point it hit him was umpires call.

Shut up healy, dickhead
