As opposed to Zaheer, Sharma and Yadav who didn't look like taking a wicket? Part of being a captain is trying something new, lost on you it seems.

Call me crazy, but offering easy singles every ball doesn't seem like a way to put pressure on the batsmen.

Don't have an issue with him trying something different but the field placement criticism is a valid one, might as well go all in for the last few overs when defending such a paltry total.

Fair enough on the field placings, 2 men deep on legside was silly but 3 overs with the fielders in any crap will be punished. With 191 to defend he can't let the score get too out of hand.

Tough job.

looks like Punter will make it 3 fifties in a row and he still looks no where near his best

Yes, cant believe people think he is not our best batter still. The bloke he is batting with needs to take that title, but has not as yet.

Dissappointed with the drop though, but still our best fielder.

3 100s and a 50 in 9 tests in 2011. What more do you want from Clarke. He has been our best batter for the best part of the last 12 months.

Realistically, if Australia can go on with the job tomorrow and both Punter and Pup can get big scores (no reason they can't both get hundreds) they could go close to 400 assuming about 60 from the last 4 combined and 40 or so each from Hussey and Haddin.

Calling it. Clarke and Ponting to both get centuries. With Pontings 100 buying him a spot in the team until 2023.

Australia to win and go ahead 2-0.

If Ponting is making runs like he has been this series why the f**k shouldn't he be in the team? It's not like there's anyone outside the team right now knocking down the door for selection.

I gotta say, Hilfy has really impressed me this series, he was excellent in the first test and excellent again today, with some better fielding off his bowling and a bit of luck, he probably takes 5. I originally saw him as a stop gap player until Cummins is fit, but it looks like Cummins may have to bide his time in shield cricket the way things are going (which may be the best thing for him as it can allow his body to develop).

It should be a great pitch tomorrow. It will quicken a bit but the swing will be less. I can see a 450+ innings. Ponting to make a well deserved ton.

Hilfey has really impressed. My question is would the selectors looked to a fit Harris this series and who would go to make way?

Yep should be a belter tomorrow after a good baking today and more sun tomorrow. If they can't make runs tomorrow they never will.

the pitch didn't really do anything today

all the wickets were taken by swing bowling except 2 short balls from Hilfy that got Khan and Sharma

its a batsmen's pitch imo
