Apart from Magnussen NONE of our swimmers (male or female) are favourite for their events. Are they that much of a disappointment? In my view no they are not, they picked up one gold in the relay, lost one (but yes they should have won that one). Seebolm was not the favourite in her event.

Go on name the favourites, the Europeans and Americans + the Chinese are just better. Magnussen SHOULD win the 100, but the Brazilian is favourite in the 50m.

Lets go through them

Women

IM's- Coutts, Rice are well behind the Chinese and the American
Breastroke- Soni is that far ahead nowadays
Backstroke- Close but Seehbolm was not the favourite
Fly- Best chance is the 200fly.
Freestyle- No chance, Coutts was the best hope, but again not the favourite.

Men

Freestyle- Magnussen the favourite, the others have no hope
IM- not a chance, Frazer-Holmes will be better in Rio.
Breaststroke- Spregher did amazingly well, as he was 5th favourite
Fly- Should have mmade the final but the South African and Phelps were the favourites.
Backstroke- Not really our favoured event.

So again I ask, have we really performed that badly...or have we just been beaten by better swimmers. It is the latter to be honest. This team is relatively young and will be better in Rio in 2016.

Exactly, and that is my whole point. This expectation of 5+ golds in the pool is ridiculous, we are just not that good as this is a young team building to Rio. So whilst it is disappointing with the relay, we got the womens relay which we were not expected to win.

No she wasn't, she didn't even have the fastest time this year. Coutts and the Chinese girl were the two favourites in that event. Coutts swam very well.
