Special player, a player you love watching play.

Always seems to have great stats try assists, line breaks, tackle breaks etc.

His only failing imo is his consistency and abiltity to dominate a game.

Great players have that but his career ain't over

he is prone to brain explosions occasionally.. i forget which game it was, the tigers were ahead by only a couple of points... the clock is ticking down and benji decides to chip and chase 10 metres out from his own line lol asked why he did it...he says he wanted to win by more points lol

anyone remember which game it was? hmmm *mental blank*

We had a 2 point lead against Penrith last year with 5 to go. We tried to spread it wide inside our ten, Benji's pass was touched by Tim Grant, who got fingertips to the ball (would've been a great take if he held it). Benji said he did it because he wanted to win by 8.

yeah, I agree he hasnt developed or re-invented himself to become a true great in a position other than# 6. To me, that's a make of a truely great player, someone who masters more than just one position.

Lockyer was a true great at both #1 and #6. Not many others like him.

I would say if Marshall went from 1 to 6 he would be up there with Lockyer in terms of mastering two positions. I think it's a bit harder for Benji because he is having to now master a position where he gets less time and room to move.

His organisation skills aren't his strong point so he won't be a great halfback but a capable one. His speed and passing game is where it is at for him.

One of the worst defenders i have ever seen. Watch games,go through the archives.Ive never ever seen any bloke single handidly leak points through missing tackles or not reading the game while defending.

Benjis defence the last few years had been pretty good, don't know what's happened this year though...it's been beyond pathetic

This year the blokes missing 6/7/8 tackles a game, several of those missed produce the ultimate outcome of the game. His lack of defence is costing the Tigers games. Forget his brilliance...at times...in attack,it's his poor defence and reading of plays that makes him mediocre at best.;-)

Soward > Marshall.

Marshall may have the odd brian explosion but seriously. I would never swap Marshall with Soward, Soward dreams that he has 50% of the ball skills that Marshall has.

I watched the 2005 Tigers season review DVD earlier this year, Marshall was incredible, pity he has lost some pace since but he is still one of the best players in the NRL.

I'm guessing you don't watch the Tigers play a lot. Marshalls defence isn't great but it is a hell of a lot better than Robert Lui's defence in 2011 and 2010.

Benji has struggled a bit this year but like Vic was saying he was actually quite good the past few years he had improved a lot since his first few seasons which is amazing after all the work he has had done on both shoulders.

Poor year by Benjis standards but like all great players (who have up and downs) he will definately rise again.

Of course he is a great player.

Actually, I should clarify.

I think he's a great 5/8th. He's an decent halfback. The last few years I don't think he's been too great, but the factors behind this have already been said.
