Contrary to a report earlier today, the wages have been paid to Newcastle Knights staff and players on time and in the normal course of business.
As per normal business, wages are processed on the 15th of each month, and cleared on the 16th into individual accounts.
“This is an absolute non issue at the Knights,” CEO Matt Gidley said.
“I have yet to field one phone call or enquiry from an employee or player in regards to this matter.”

Wow Rothfield writing his weekly anti Knights article. Unfounded rubbish.

His dramatic "alarm bells are ringing" lead was a good laugh. F*ck the sports journalism industry is in a bad way if f*ckwits like Slothfield are getting editor gigs

Being serious, what a ridiculous non-issue?

Is Rothfield going to enquire with each club about paydays for each player or staff member?

Talk about nosy.

What's that? Crisis? Where?

I do love the word 'crisis', almost as much as I love the word 'Exciting'.

It's what makes Rugby League worthwhile.

If this caused alarm bells, imagine what he would have written about the sharks before the development went ahead, over the last 10-15 years.

Oh wait...................

Wasn't it Slothfield that wrote the article earlier in the year about DCE not having enough change in his pocket to buy a pie after training?

All the big issues in rugby league.

All the big issues in rugby league.

Wouldn't have mattered. Big Georgie was in the queue ahead of him.

Little chance of snaring a pie after that.

Normally I wouldn't be concerned but Tinkler does have priors in the area of non-payment.

Hence why the article was written, to get suckers like you who assume just because he isnt paying his bills at another place, it automatically means all his businesses can't pay their bills.

If Tinkler wasn't in the papers for all his other companies, this article WOULD NOT have been written.

Typical sensationalizing journalism, where reporters just think up any plausible scenario, what for a slight rumour, and then BANG, blow the story out of proportion to draw in attention. In the end they look stupid shortly after when the correct info comes out. Sadly, some people continue to read/watch/listen to it all.

Yes. But Tinkler is in the papers and he is that cash poor that he is deliberately witholding payments.

If it continues like this for him the Knights and Jets will be next.

Worst case scenario is the knights have had their 5 million dollar debt wiped and get $20m bank guarantee, then the members buy the club for $1. This worse case is better than what the knights have had for 25 years and still has us in a better position then almost every other club

Nice cover-up attempt by the Knights. Might want to make sure the players and their managers are in on iŷ next time though...

Pathetic club which isn't worth 2 drops of donkey piss.

What did fat boy Tinkler pay for the Knights again? $2 and a biscuit?
