I love how GE tell him to ground his Jet so he gives them the proverbial before jumping aboard and heading home to Singapore.

This guy doesn't give a rat's ass about creditors.

I hope for all of his employee's sake he manages to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Storm in a teacup. Whitehaven went up by 9c today. Based on his shares that is about $20m. His wealth will always bounce around and coal prices will increase at some stage and he will be back to the billionaires club

So what's happened to the small business creditors who can't afford to take him to court?

Are they being paid?

Small Businesses Caught Up in Tinkler’s Troubles

August 21, 2012, 9:30 am

Dozens of small business are struggling to recoup debts owed to them by companies
associated with embattled millionaire Nathan Tinkler.

According to Fairfax Media reports, a string of unpaid debts and missed super
contributions have surfaced from the mining magnates extensive business network.
Unfortunately most of those debts are owed to Australian start-ups.

The man who BRW estimates is worth a whopping $915 million is estimated to owe
these businesses in excess of $1 million. As a result of the outstanding debts, Fairfax
reports that some business owners have been forced to re-mortgage their homes,
increase overdrafts or sell their cars.

The majority of the shonky practices relate to Tinkler’s horse stud, Patinack Farm, and
construction company, Bolkm. In the past ten months, seven businesses have taken legal action to recoup monies owed by these two businesses alone.
Small business creditors are flabbergasted that companies backed by one of the
nation’s richest men cannot afford to pay invoices for as little as $1200. Debts range
up to almost $100,000.

One of the business owners’ owed money by Tinkler, roofer Rob Atherton, said he is owed
$50,000 for work he did for Bolkm. Atherton hasn’t paid himself for over a month to ensure his employee’s wages are up to date.

That's the kind of example Tinkler could learn

That is only useful if you cash them in or can borrow against their equity and given his credit standing at the moment alongside coal price fluctuations that is pretty unlikely. You don't flog of your assets unless you are in serious strife.

Most Families are worth 150k and are in debt 400-500k which is 3-4 times their worth.

These people pay their bills however as its usually a mortgage with an agreed repayment plan and equity.

Most aren't getting around bankrupt action taken against them or constantly defaulting hardworking Aussies out of money.
