I think your all into the Johnson hate so far you can't see his actual talent, when he is firing that is and the ball swings

Siddle and Hilfy give it everything but they are not that great, infact in any other era we don't wouldn't have heard a word about them, neither of them would even make shield cricket if they were transported through time

you must have missed the 80's then. Johnson is a mentally weak pie thrower and I'd pick guys like Siddle and Hilfy every time over that softcock.

People see Johnson's talent, but they also have their eyes wide open to his faults..

The guy can't put the ball in the same spot 2 balls in a row..

He is also our chief ball destroyer,as he is unable to keep the seem upright as he sends 'em down, thus killing any opportunity for his fellow pacemen to get any movement..

Plus he is a complete mental midget..FMD his mum blows up at him & he goes to water..

In the words of the Barmy Army;

"He bowls to the left..
He bowls to the right..
That Mitchell Johnson..
His bowling is shite.."

From that 12 The 11 will be:

Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Clarke
Hussey
Watson
Wade
Siddle
Johnson
Hilfenhaus/ Starc
Lyon

Probably doesnt matter as Sri Lanka are barely test standard when they play away from home. The 'top end' tests played a few years back in Cairns and Darwin suited them a lot more

We felt that for the South African series that Quiney was the right man," Inverarity said. "We look to Phil Hughes to be one of our players of the future, a real long-term player, so when we were considering the South African series we were very keen for Phil Hughes to come in when his form was absolutely right, and the right circumstances for him.

"We did feel that throwing him into the Tests against the world No. 1 with their attack was probably not the ideal set of circumstances for him, and we feel the time now is absolutely right for him. We needed to be convinced that his game was absolutely cherry ripe. It was just recently at the MCG that he got a big hundred [158 for SA v Victoria] and I think that was further proof that he's in absolutely the right place.

Dear oh dear, hiding him from a good attack ain't going to help him when the Ashes comes around.

FMD just been reading the articles and it suggest Johnson is a lock. WTF do we ever learn, this is probably going to end very badly. Maybe not the two series coming up but I can see it ending very badly come the Ashes.

not necessarily, he's been selected for things he's done four years ago, come the next ashes, the 2009 ashes will be 4 years in the past, selectors might remember his form then

I don't understand it... Batsmen should relish the chance to play the best bowling not be hidden away from it. This if anything highlights the major flaw with cricket Australia. It basically says, we'll fill Hughes with false confidence against the Lankan's and Indian's, then once he gets found out against England we'll drop him again...
