Surely a centre cant command 750k, that seems way off

I didn't read it that way. I saw Greenberg on the box the other day and he said that signing Folau would be a stretch. Sounds more like they are $350 - 400K short. With the increased cap I think JMoz would be on that sort of money. If they let him go they could "upgrade" to Folau.

what makes everyone think the dogs of all teams cant find a way for both folou and j moz?

love to see moz back but he loves it over at that scummy club. and the dogs' cap is more like a top hat.
Certainly would be tough with the likes Kasiano, Pritchard, Reynolds, Barba, Graham, Ennis etc.
Throw in Morris, Inu, Perrett and Tolman and they must be right on their limit as it is now ?
Keep an eye on things Schubert ???

I'd say Schubert has an eye on two clubs - Roosters and Dogs. One is a rorter by name. The other is a rorter by nature.

JMoz would be great, but people are still underestimating our need for forwards, and not just cheapskate bargain forward buys like we've done recently. Guys with the quality of Kasiano and etc. He f***ing killed us on friday night. Our forward pack is too small, it doesn't have enough bite. We can make good metres on the odd night, but we are too consistent at leaking metres. We need a merkin kind of player, Josh Miller had the merkin in him but was too often a merkin to himself and it forced him into retirement, and was on old legs anyway. Still, a centre is still a must, and obviously a halfback.

If don't think anyone is oblivious to our need to sign a prop and a half. But it's JMoz. As a guy who watched the father and both sons, I would always make an exception for a player like this.

Bugger it why don't we just sign Folau saves all the mucking around with who'll the dogs will release? Anyway I know this won't happen I wouldn't mind lafai he would be cheaper. But as mentioned Kasiano would be the one!!!!!!

I agree with you. It also is the case that we could have signed Folau for 2013 for at least one year. As it turns out, the asking price of 450k for this year was well within the Dragons cap at the time. Just imagine, 2013 with Folau at right centre.

The Eels deal with Folau that fell through this year was reportedly worth around 700k a season.

I agree with some of the earlier posts Kasiano would be the man I would sign over any of the others, we need a massive prop who can actually use his size.

I am fairly sure that the Eels offered 450k and the salary cap auditor said it was too light. After the deal was done between Rugby Union and Falau, but not yet signed, the salary cap auditor came back to the Eels with the 450k value for 2013. At the time the Eels only had 250k and needed to off-load a player to release more cap. The Eels had not yet done this and Folau did not want to wait any longer.

Why could not have the Dragons offered Folau 450k for 2013?

After watching the other teams depth players this weekend, im starting to think that perhaps we dont need to keep the Chase/Vidot/Fein (Cooper is kinda different) as cheaper depth players... some of the reserve players last night were better than our first graders.

However JMoz.. hes prob not crazy priced if he wants to come home as rumoured earlier in year (denied but we know he had to do that), but that doesnt leave room for both Beale & Farrell, so I wonder if both are staying? I would also think Vai Vai would be leaving too, not much else he could have done to get a start this year, esp with coops injuries.

Farrell will be 2nd string back line cover can play 5/8 center wing fullback.

Quite possibly Possm, but as mentioned earlier that seems to be light on and a massive bargain basement price any club would be crazy to not jump at.

Hence my dismay. I'm sure that in the second and third year of Falau's contract the price weould have been greater. Doust could have offered 2013 only with other clubs bidding for 2014 on or he could have offered a three year deal for more than 450k a season.

We can't be sure but I imagine no offer was made.

At 450k for Folau any CEO with cap space requiring a centre should be sacked on the spot for not taking it up.:)

Especially considering we were willing to pay 600k for Jennings and Falou is a better well rounded player.

I'm a huge fan of Farrell and I think and hope he is a starting centre next year

Same. He seems out of favour at the Rabbits. Recently voted 19th best young player in the game. Beat guys like Koroibete. One behing Wighton. He is talented.

...odds are it's Folou's manager leaking stuff like this to up his price Folou has proven he will follow the money no matter what, went from Storm to Broncos, claims family reasons, but also helped was on more money, then jumped to AFL a game he could'nt even spell. Just for the money, Rugby will offer him heaps, and playing for Wallabies is big carot, international travel, huge exposure, = more money, which is where it all of this comes down to.....follow the money trail...

I think he'll go where his heart is. The league offer would be big enough for a good Christian boy who is already a multi millionaire. With Origin weighing on his mind the Dogs would do well to strike now.
