There is another possible option if that fails and that is wyong hooker Mitch Williams, he's killing the POTY points at state cup and not affiliated to an NRL club..

What long term, this year, 2014?

I am sure I heard that N Friend was someone we were looking at and so to Api from Souths 20's. Add the 20's dummy half for the sharks and thats three top options for next year and then you can have a real crack at C King from the dragons in '15, perhaps?

Yes I've also heard that Micheal Lichaa is an option although still under contract with the sharks.

Thats him, hope so! He played very well in the 20's? state of origin that was played the same night as samoa v tonga.

Have you heard anything about Friend or did I just make that up?

i'm lacking faith in ricky stuart and his ability attract quailty players. Wasn't it mentioned when we signed him they he would attract quailty players?

My info is that they don't want to fall into the trap of just signing players to please the fan base, it was suggested that a few of the signings were rushed through previously and longer term contracts agreed to , in an effort to be positive in the media.

I cant see RS and Dean Pay taking that route, so I think we need to be patient (unfortunately) and nothing may come through for longer than we want. We all want good news , but it is difficult to sit back when we all realise the needs the club has.

To be fair on Ricky our side isn't going well (not entirely his fault with our roster)
But he has attracted some guys and Hoppa is still keen. But if next year we don't improve and snag a couple decent players then I'll doubt his player attraction. Also he was close to signing Tamou who only last minute back flipped because he felt he needed to stay loyal to cowboys and also papalli who was just a dick in the end. So he hasn't been totally useless

100%

Like the Tahu coming back from union. It was awesome for the club in the media but in the end turned sour. We need to be smart with our signings and Hoppa, Norman and mossop are good signings for the future and not exactly ones the media would be salivating over in terms of press (Hoppa will attract media when he comes back initially)

That's fair enough - except we appear to have very frequently missed out on the players those in charge have targeted.

At some stage one of the needs to be examined will be better administration.

Well, its all good now, just ask Tony Bongo, the new board has made a huge difference, NOT.

What exactly does that mean?

Obviously everyone would prefer better to poorer admin.

We won't get much better admin until we stop the frigging factional circus associated with our board(s).

I agree with the others above that we are better off signing nobody in the short-run, than signing half a dozen journeyman hacks to appease the more excitable fans. At least you retain an option to bid if a good target unexpectedly comes on the market.

People need to get a grip tbh - We cant sign everyone - other factors come into play!

Papali - Better backflips than Nadia Comăneci
Hinchcliffe - And isn't he going great guns?
Roby - He's from England. Wasnt available until 2015 anyway. A lot can happen between now & then.

other names excape me at the minute...

And for all this talk about letting 12 players go?? Lets get real there too - a number were already off contract. The Remainders will be at the club (obviously in Wenty as backups) if they do not relocate.

Its well documented we've recruited a number, and resigned the ones we want to keep.

mass Hysteria & Pointing fingers at boards/ CEOs etc is just ridiculous. I get that its f***ing frustrating coming last - and hard to remain positive - but the amount of negativity in this place - If I wanted that I'd actually do my work all day!

our brand is severely damaged at the moment. it will take a long time to repair. i look at the dogs as a good example of what's needed to repair a brand.

stability at ceo position
a united board that doesn't get involved in the press
ex board and employees that value the club above their own interests - eg mortimer, hughes's
respect for it's stakeholders - sponsors and fans.
a solid broom for players that aren't capable (we're doing that), eg the dogs are unrecognisable from say 4 years ago.
belief in juniors, look at reynolds barba idris jackson finucane kasiano klemmer etc
steady progress, before t-rex and graham etc there was eastwood, stagg, pritchard etc

can't believe i'm envious of the dogs after years of serving it to them whilst they were down

We have erred in chasing big names. Opportunity to play first grade is our biggest attraction. Big names are interested in big pay days and premierships.
