Are Tickets and Factions killing the thing we love most?

If 20+ individuals all stood for the board independently with some of them having serious commercial acumen and experience then 7 would get voted in and we would have a non factional board.

On the back of Sid Kelly walking out on the board I wanna ask will everyone ever be on the same page at our club? Will we ever get any unity in this place?

I dream of supporting a club without following political faction, I dream of a successful front office and most of all I dream of a competative footy team, but it appears that we have people in powerful positions at the club who are willing to love the club to death... Literally!!

I fear that if this infighting doesn't stop than the club as we know it may die and die a painful death,

So the question I wanna ask is would you support a constitutional change that will outlaw tickets or factions at the club? I'm now at this stage where we need a radical change like this so that we, as a club can move forward...

On Saturday, we are celebrating a return to the 80's day,us members should march in unison to the ground chanting pat banaters 'love is a battle field' South Park style .... As comical as it sounds that's what we've become.

At this stage we can only but dream of such a place, definitely would be supportive of any change that can achieve that.

Yes, I would support such a change and also to allow postal voting to increase voting numbers so factions can't just rely on manipulating the current voting 2%.

If nothing changes Spags will be back next election for sure coz he'll be already working securing the extra 500 members he needs to turn up to secure it for him.

Don't tease me please...

Yes, that would be brilliant but we're probably light years away from that..

You know what? I couldn't care if he was back or not but I'd love him to represent himself...in fact can you imagine if him and fitzy were on the same page?

That's exactly right.
He got voted in on the back of "it was time for change".
Fair enough too.
He then got voted back out just as smartly because people thought he was doing a shit job.
He can't handle that. It would be hurting so much.
He'll do everything he can to get back on the board.
He's no different to what Fitzgerald was.
Power is a drug.

I could care less about Spags, my point was under the current voting system it will just end up like musical chairs with the same factions rotating each election. Factions survive because of the small pool of voting members we have, we need a larger pool to dilute the influence of these factions.

True, but to be fair you can say the same about any amateur seeking positions they are not trained for, which is the exact same problem with the current mob. They won't be worse but they won't be better either, no matter how sincere they just don't have the acumen to succeed at what they have taken on, they're just more of the same well meaning amateurs.

Where did Spagnolo come from anyway, was he a major Parra fan before he was on the board? What is his story?

Yeah he was, he's an accountant and was Burty and Fui's manager as well as being a minor sponsor.

I am expecting a telegraph story in the next week about parra fans being fed up with all the bs and demanding unity after one of their researchers gets wind of this thread.

You know, I hate seeing my friends feel this way, but in all honesty it is how I felt in 2008, sorry guys. You are disillusioned with this club and I can understand that.

But banning tickets is not the way. Banning factions is not the way.

I could say banning Ego's but that is how all this started.

The way forward, I think we are going to have to, like the current hung parliament, surf this one out. Allow Roy back on the LC board instead of Sid, and if desperately needed go to an FC election in December. It hurts but unless you want to smack them all down, you can't do much else.

Chipmunk, there are 12 other NRL clubs with the same constitution as ours or at least for the most part with some minor tweaks, our constitution is based of the NSWRL constitution, the only problem we have is that the NRL club is owned by the leagues club not the football club. There is no constitutional crisis about getting this club back to the football club, it is just getting the two boards to agree. It could also be done with an XGM of both clubs if the members want it enough, 100 signatures to the motion for both clubs and it could happen.

Hope you're right, directors don't seem to listen to fans directly but jump in whenever any story appears in the paper as can be seen by Sharpies letter today

I think you can add EGJ there as well.

Funny story, when I first meet him, the guy that introduced me to Spags, told me afterwards to count my fingers every time I shook his hand.
