The idiots who say Gulavou was hard done by at Souths are as clueless as the Souths official who signed him for around $300k per season. If he was on a $60k min wage contract no one including Rusty would give a toss. Gulavou has done well by Souths as have countless other non-performing highly paid has beens.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he was hard-done by (they might have been, I haven't read up).

I think it's more that they're saying Souths obviously failed to get the right stuff out of him, as they have with so many players. His four-year older legs have been unleashed by Manly somehow. I'd say the culture at Souths needs to be looked at - it's a concern when no matter who you buy, you can't get the best out of them.

Hell, you didn't pass the ball to Inglis for about two months.

Love the bloke. Spewing we let him go tbh.

I'd love to see him win another well-deserved Premiership.

Wow, that would be fantastic if he played. I would love to see the big fella go around one more time.

hopefully he has been growing the big mop back in his time off the field. How cool would that be to see for one last time if he runs out?

I remember hearing that Joe takes trains, buses and ferries to get to training

Trains from his home in Penrith to Circular Quay, ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf, and then a bus from Manly Wharf to the training ground (which I assume it Brookie). That's committment for ya!

Narrabeen. Sydney Academy of Sport, the old NSW Blues training grounds.

A hell of a mission either way. I believe teammates have offered him a lift from places along the way but he doesn't like to inconvenience anyone.

Or he could just get a drivers license like the rest of us

He was great at Penrith. He had a few bad years at Souths and Parra but mainly due to injuries. He has definitely regained some great form at Manly. A great man too, I read a story that he gets the train from Penrith to the city + bus to northern beaches every day to get to training.

His form at Parra was great. Part of the reason Parramatta was in the 2009 GF.
