Pou is just being supportive of our half back. It's a good attitude.

I like the way Kelly plays. It's generally smart football. He has touches of class on his plays sometimes. But he needs an experienced half on the field with him. Someone who can let him know he's made a bad decision or a bad play. Jason Smith would be handy if he were younger!

Sandow has the skill. Not the kind of half back I prefer but he's ours. I want to see him give more of what he can.

I'm not convinced Kelly is a FG halfback. But why bother with Sandow unless we want to make the attack revolve around him?

We're far better off revolving around Hayne/ Norman through the spine, so play Kelly at halfback and instruct him to give early ball to Hayne on the loop or Hoppa in space.

If we don't play Sandow, there's less chance of him being exposed defensively, and more chance that he'll get the message and go elsewhere. If he's on $450k, and we pay someone else $350k to take him off our hands, then that's still $100k we're better off towards a player who can contribute in in both aspects of the game in FG.

Pou just likes Sandow because he only thinks in terms of attack....

I disagree. Kelly actually played more games and more mintues than Sandow. These are there kick stats:

Kelly forced 10 repeat sets in 2013 compared to Sandow's 9.
Kelly kicked 0 40/20s compared to Sandows 4.
Kelly kicked for an average 234m a game compared to Sandow's 310m

Now i know stats don't tell the whole story but there is no way kelly's kicking game shits on Sandows. I'd say there short kicking game is equal and Sandow's long kicking game is better than Kelly's

I would respectfully disgaree with your comment - his short kicking game is poor. His long kicking game is probably on par with sandow.

Kelly's passing game (especially cut out passes) are woeful.

I'm not sure anyone thinks he is the answer? But when you're looking at 2 liabilities to the team, you pick the lesser negative.

There's no use in a kick finding grass if the opposition can attack the ball. Likewise finding an opposition player on the full isn't a bad result if you have a good chase
and/or the player that takes the ball isnt able to attack the ball (ie they are running backwad or have to stop or take a decent amount of time to take the ball). Kelly has an average kicking game and average skill set in general. In saying that, even though kelly may be maybe 75% of sandow's potential, I'd rather Kelly's consistency than a 100% sandow only being there for three games a year.
