I think Super cool has the form at Moonee Valley and a much better chance if there is plenty of give in the track. I'm also starting to think the maiden might give a sight with 49kg. If you have a good look at its last two runs in the stutt and the guineas, they were both quite phenomenal.
I'd also be very wary of Green Moon. Needs a WFA race like this for his stallion resume. Strange prep but they have shown they can get horses ready for the grand final. I think this might have been his grand final all along, not the Cup.
There all bagging that maiden Shamus Award for getting a run in the Cox Plate but he was actually HUGE effort in the Caulfield Guineas, something like that can fluke a place at big odds with the right run.
Hope you boys had something on it..
A maiden just won the Cox Plate..:shock:
What does it say about our WFA championship of Australia when a maiden 3 yr old wins the Cox Plate???
Great ride by the kid but FMD a maiden wins the Cox Plate lol. All the top line colts go to s
He's a f**king maiden boys, he shouldn't have been even there in the first place, i remember a good 3yr old like elvestrom didn't get a run in the big race and he'd at least won the Guineas's prelude.
What does it say about our riding ranks when a 19 yr old apprentice pulls the pants down of all the jockeys in our biggest race??? Mehlemderp and Macdonald slaughtered their mounts. Normally if a 3yr old wins the Cox plate he is a champion or the field is average. If it is a 3yr old maiden wins what does that say about the field???? Rubbish IMO.

You would hope he is at least a good horse, he just won the WFA championship of Australasia. Time will tell, he'd been unlucky all prep and i had a cracker on him in the guinea's and threw him into my tri after tossing up wether to rover IADD or Fiorente. Still spewing, the ride was a gem but i stand by my statement that all the top quality colts are going to stud far to early leaving our WFA ranks thin. Also the Cox Plate is being turned into just a run race for the Melbourne Cup, Honestly how many horses had been set for the race yesterday??? Good luck to the connections they won the lotto yesterday.Or the 'maiden' might be a good horse. That's what I mean about only time will tell. Agree there were some very poor rides. Melham kept Fiorente an IADD 3 wide on Puissance de LOL and it was going backwards at the school like the myth that it is. At least Shinn did something. Fiorente and Happy trails both had their chance and couldn't run shamus award down.
So we have underwood (happy trails 4th) dato and Turnbull (Fiorente 1st & 4th) and guineas (shamus award 3rd) form all stacking up in the cox plate. Seems like a similar story to every other year.
Lots of egg on people's faces if Shamus turns out to be a multiple group 1 winner
American is now at Stud, shocking in NZ. there are a few staying sires coming through. Street cry,Reset and Savabeel. But yes our industry is geared to speed, 2 yr olds and a quick buck. But our most richest races are staying ones, some people just don't want to wait.Hopefully So You Think can produce some quality middle distance horses for us
