"people in glass houses........"

You've conveniently forgotten about your beloved Raiders being found & fined heavily in the 90's for being hundreds of thousands over the celery cap.
Then again you may have still been swinging :D

I know exactly what happened in the early 90s. It's been discussed on here ad nauseum many times. Search it if you want to understand the reasons that it happened, it was very different to the deliberate stuff we see in the modern game.

If there was a genuinely independent salary cap auditor in the last decade or so, there would be a completely different looking history of premiers.

It does look very suss. When you know for a fact that Lockyer was only on $250k for the last 4 years you have to wonder. I realise there are third party deals but there is no way that makes up the difference for a player of that calibre. Same with the Storm for years. Politis at the Roosters is as dodgy as they come. All clubs try to milk the cap but some just destroy it. It's like the difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance. It will never be a level playing field but it is good to get independent auditors.

You do realise that people are suggesting the Roosters might finally be in trouble is because Schubert is leaving don't you? The reason they are saying this is because many people are very suspicious about the seemingly blind eye he has turned towards a certain Bondi-based club for the last couple of decades.

If he was looking as hard at the roosters books as he was at the Storm or Bulldogs (courtesy of anonymous tips), we might have had a few other premierships stripped...

Like I said, you and the collective morons keep saying the same thing for decades and nothing. Do you have any other evidence other than your very faint hope that now Schubert is leaving the roosters after all these years will get sprung?

Considering we've only won two premierships in three decades or so it would only be two being stripped, IF your recycled drunk pub banter ever comes true.

As it stands the Raiders are bigger cap cheats than the roosters. And there the facts bub.

Again where's the fact? You deal in hypothetical pub hysteria. To strip all these titles who else do you know to be cheating the cap?

You obviously don't read the Daily Telegpraph if you don't think Politis is a dodgy dealer.

Ignore the fact that Politis & Searle were the two biggest driving forces for the Independent commission, he's quite clearly a man who needs to have control at every level of the game, didn't you know?

The cap was designed to stop people like Arko, merely a remedy for blatancy . . . anyone anticipating the cap would have an effect on manipulators determined to maintain a low profile in shenanigans is kidding themselves.

The best the NRL could ever hope for is 'out of sight, out of mind', Politis, Cullen and any driving force worth his salt would never keep the reins by being a goody f**king two shoes, they are what the NRL need to save face. Dopes like Waldron represent a far bigger danger than just rocking the boat

Titans release Idris on compassionate grounds

Adam Gardini

Tuesday 7 January 2014 1:05 PM

The iSelect Gold Coast Titans have granted centre Jamal Idris an immediate release from the final three years of his contract with the club on compassionate grounds, allowing him to return to Sydney to join the Penrith Panthers.

The Titans have agreed to release Idris effective immediately after the 23-year-old expressed his desire to return to Sydney to be closer to his family.

The move has opened up an opportunity for talented Panthers speedster Brad Tighe to join the Titans on a two-year contract for seasons 2014-15. Tighe, 29, has played 157 NRL matches for both the Panthers and Newcastle since making his debut for the Knights in 2005.

Idris said he was thankful for the understanding of the Titans due to personal reasons.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here at the Titans and I’m grateful that the club has favourably considered my request for a release,’’ said Idris. “For personal reasons, I have decided it would be best to be closer to my family as my mum has been ill for the past year and it’s been difficult living interstate. “I wish the club all the best and am looking forward to the opportunity with the Panthers.’’

iSelect Titans Chief Executive Officer Graham Annesley said while it was unfortunate to be fare welling Idris after just two seasons with the club, it was about putting people’s live first. “We are dealing with people’s lives and at times, we have to put the best interests of people first,’’ said Annesley. “Jamal has a really close relationship with his family and we respect his desire to spend more time with them in Sydney. “Jamal has been great on and off the field during his time at the Titans and while we’re disappointed to see him go we fully understand and appreciate his personal circumstances. “We now look forward to the arrival of Brad Tighe, who is a well-credentialed centre with plenty of NRL experience.’’

iSelect Titans Coach John Cartwright said Idris had endured a tough run with injuries during his time at the club but had shown Titans fans how good he can be at his best. “Jamal showed everyone last season exactly what he is capable of, it was just unfortunate that injury struck right when he was playing some of his best football,’’ said Cartwright.
“It’s unfortunate that he is moving on but it’s the best outcome for both Jamal and his family and we respect that.’’

Cartwright said Titans fans would have vivid memories of new recruit Tighe, who has played some of his best football against the club in recent years. “Brad is a real speedster who I’m sure many fans will remember from late in the 2012 season when he scored three tries against us,’’ said Cartwright. “It’ll be exciting to see him in Titans colours next season.’’
