Merritt was a star, but he has lost his speed and is becoming a liability as he is defensively weak and the tries he scores no longer outweigh the tries he concedes. Unless he has a drastic turn in form he won't last more than a few games

I'd have Reddy, Champion, Walker and Goodwin as the starting outside backs. There are a few young guys with the potential to elevate quickly like Walker did last year, particularly Alex Johnston who would be a smokey for a wing spot.

If you're referring to me, I said many times last year that Merritt should have been picked years ago when he was scoring 20-25 tries a season. He hasn't been the same since he copped a foot injury that he will have to carry until he retires in the Indigenous game at the start of 2012

If Merritt was a Qldr, he would have been picked when he was ripe, far better strike record than Boustead for example and probably on par in defence.
