2014 Mock Draft Thread

Tom Gamble, highly respected and touted personnel guy decided to stay in Philly (came to us via Niners and is being credited as one of the major reasons for Philly's improved draft last year)... minor rumours circulating that in a chat about the Miami GM job (Gamble is going to be a very good GM, as soon as a job he likes opens, he'll get it) Gamble said he'd want to move to a 3-4 D because he thinks Dion Jordan can be a super star in a 3-4 defense

which now he's staying in Philly has spurred rumours about Miami maybe sending Jordan to the Eagles for their first round pick this year, it seems a stretch because, frankly the Dolphins would be mad to give up on the 3rd over all pick so early, but gee that'd be interesting for the Eagles... Jordan in a 3-4, reuniting with Chip. Something to maybe remember, could be something that gains traction in the lead up to the draft

I'm confused... Have I missed something... Did Miami trade up with the Jags?

Cleveland gave up on Trent Richardson after a similar amount of time. Also the 3rd pick in the draft. He was just as underwhelming as Dion Jordan in his first year

Yeah, that's the obvious counter to the argument that it wont happen.. I think i would be on board with it as an Eagles fan. Jordan is athletic enough to cover, can get to the QB in a 3-4 and is only 23, he is a better player than we'd get @ 22, and is a position of need.

We could probably even throw in Brandon Graham who is no good in our 3-4 but has flashed dominate play in a 4-3 to sweeten the pot

It seems to me to be a stretch but crazier things have happened. Fingers crossed.

Nice work Tom. I like that first round, very similar to how i'd have it playing out right now

If Benjamin falls to the Steelers there after getting Gilbert in the first I would be very happy.

No way they follow it up with a 2nd CB until the late rounds if at all, too many holes to ignore to be stocking up at one position.

Great effort mate

My initial thoughts:

Too Low
Jadeveon Clowney
Dee Ford
Kyle Van Noy
Jake Mathews

Too High
Derek Carr
Marqise Lee
Shayne Skov

Yeah I'd be happy with that. Won't be getting Clowney at 6 though, and I don't want to trade up for him.

If the Rams stay put, I reckon they'll take him.

3. Atlanta - C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE Iowa

Should be higher!

Would make a good pick for buffalo in the 3rd, take a good safety in the 2nd

The Raiders are quite rightly high on Watkins and should take him, but if Rams pass on Clowney, then we definitely take him at 5.

Dee Ford is definitely too low
I think Carr is going inside the top 10... this had the ponder-locker draft written all over it

Great effort mate

My initial thoughts:

Too Low
Jadeveon Clowney - talent wise he deserves to go higher obviously but on team needs this could happen unless someone trades up for him with st Louis most likely depends on each team views need vs bpa

Dee Ford - great player probably is too low but with the amount of talent in this class some good players are going to drop lower than they should go, who do you take out to fit them in? he is a fast riser atm so it probably wont be him though if he keeps it up

Kyle Van Noy - same as ford

Jake Mathews - will likely be passed by robinson as top tackle if he hasn't been already, add that to most of the top half of the top 10 having more pressing needs than OT its not out of the question he drops to the back end of the top 10 or even out of it

Too High
Derek Carr - Minnesota desperately needs a qb if they pass him here they are unlikely too find many options at their next pick they could try and trade back but are unlikely to find a partner to trade with imo unless an elite talent falls, trading up is also unlikely given how much picks/$$$ they spent last year on Patterson/Rhodes/Floyd or they could try to sign someone from a weak FA qb pool. Carr is also a great fit in norv turner's offense

Marqise Lee - good talent dodgy qb play hurt his stock, offseason big for him could go either way

Shayne Skov - agreed
answers in bold

I don't see the panthers skipping out on Kelvin Benjamin. lots of talk around the mock drafts and forums about them going WR and he seems like a good fit.

on the other hand Gentleman does like is big guys so we could go back to back OT. to be honest I'm happy either way.

Panthers absolutely need to go WR... They arent beating anyone with their current weapons. Need to get rid of some of those horrendous contracts at RB too so they can keep the defense in tact.
