2014 Mock Draft Thread

Thought to just create this so we have a central thread for all our Mock Drafts throughout the draft process.

So....who you got going number 1?

Manziel? Bridgewater? Clowney? Bortles?

Are there Franchise QB's in this draft or will this be known as a mediocre class?

IMO the QB's from 4 onwards actually provide most upside. A guy like Garopollo or Murray or Zach Mettenberger imo could give greater upside and starting value than a guy like Johnny Football.

I like the look of Bridgewater... He looks like you could throw him straight in to a pro scheme and he will get those chains a movin'.

I know I'm gonna sound like a broken record... But if the Johnny Football hype train pushes him up the draft... Someone is gonna get a steal with Clowney or Bridgewater.

The word out there is if the Rams don't trade down... They will probably pick up Matthews the OT. Maaan... I reckon Clowney would be a great fit for their already good up and coming defence they are building.

I think Bridgewater is going to be the #2nd QB taken. I recon one of the top teams will fall in love with Johnny Football. FWIW - i think Bridgewater is the better QB

I also think there is a really REALLY good chance that Clowney goes #1 over all. Once he gets to the combine and they see his freakish athleticism, i think Houston pair him with Watt and make a really terrifying defense.

Hard to say really....We have been spoilt with QBs the last few years.
I'd agree with your first two but Mettenberger will bust.

Supposedly Cleveland is considering trading up for him, which would be a mistake imo.

Clowney goes #1 overall, he's the best prospect imo, Manziel's stock will drop once the combine comes.

A guy who I heard a lot of hype around and looked good every time I saw him was Evans from A&M.

He was jonny footballs main receiver... He seems to have dropped down the pecking order.

Clowney SHOULD go #1... His speed and athleticism are going to destroy ALOT of teams.

But we all know Houston will find Manziel appealing... A Texas boy already with a high profile.

Either way... It's gonna be hard to pass on Clowney.

bortles/bridgewater will be the top 2 qb's taken imo, don't be surprised if Texans take bortles #1 over bridgewater either

To me it's JF or Bridgewater, with McCarron an outside chance to be a good starter. The rest are career back ups imo.

I think Manziels stock rises at the combine. Once they see his athleticism and see that he can make all the throws, he is going to soar. As long as he can convince teams at the top he is committed to football and not just in it for fame and money, he will be the 1st QB taken.

These project QBs don't enthuse me at all

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I agree that Bortles will be a top 10 pick when it's all said and done

In terms of hype, yeah. In terms if QB play abd success in the pros, no.
What makes you think he'll be successful?
Remember Tebow had the intangibles as well, he can throw yes...but he's got the same locked on target, one read, that Tebow had.

And watching both his Bama games I didn't see that much improvement, he still tried to run and tried repeatedly on a couple of occassions, it was only because of his OL that he didn't get sacked more.

I somewhat agree... Being a fan of a team who really needs a guy straight out of the gate...

But Bridgewater is the only guy in this class that I think is ready to go....

Everyone else is a project IMO... Especially Manziel.

Would you be comfortable with Manziel starting Week 1 next season? :?

Well Manziel can throw the ball and accurately. His release is light years ahead of Tebows as well.

RE the OL, you can apply that to any QB ever.

Theres no sure thing in the NFL draft. Its just my opinion he will adapt much better in the pros than Tebow did.

I would, but if he was starting for my team week 1, he'd be playing in Chip Kelly's system which would perfectly suit his skill set

but we got Nickfolian Dynamite

but i think Manziel will be very RG3/Vick esque... human highlight reel but his style is going to create a lot of injuries and lost seasons by his team

Well yes but this kid is very slight.
When he gets tackled he gets thrown like a ragdoll and that's in college let alone pro defense.
RG3 is much bigger and has already been hampered by such injuries.

It's just a shame he didn't stay in college a few more years as I do think he has the ability to become a great pocket passer....but if he gets drafted to start straight away..I don't see it happening.
