Bears Reserve Grade & Juniors Watch

If they only start with one junior rep side I'd say we are better off playing in the lower age group 16/17s to start with and bring those boys through adding 18/19s and above as we go?

    Bears Coaching Chat

Cleary openly has said he has heavily relied on / backed his assistants such as Ciraldo, Webster etc. to develop and push the defensive and attacking structures at the clubs.

I think the results will improve a lot quicker than that. Get the right structures in place and the 12 year old today have a great chance of being highly competitive in their age groups as they come through. Pirates realistically had 6 kids capable of playing in that competition each year...

    Bears Coaching Chat

You don't get the concept of a modern day NRL coach who has multiple assistants under him to execute the technical plan while the head coach controls the culture and makes the tough calls?

Has been great culturally for the Maroons and Kangaroos. Give him the right technical assistants and sounds like it could be a good move.

Apologies it sounded like players would be sent to be billeted, train and play in existing QRL CC and MM setups and not as Bears teams.

That would be an absolute touch up and not gain anything

Will the QRL clubs that we are farming our talent off to be linked to Queensland NRL sides? How do scouts help? We are here to develop kids for The Bears, not any other club. If your a talented 16 year old I'd expect this makes a Force Contract way more appealing. I'd thought the large WA...

Cummins was going to have those junior rep programs running next year. Lost opportunity. No coaching staff development in Perth either. Just delays the likelihood of Perth kids actually making it.

Perth based training camp over the early summer, then base themselves in QLD for Feb to April? Full-time Perth base staff to travel and stay with the players for 3-4 months? Is that really cheaper and less disruptive that flying every second week to play in QLD?

Being completely honest at this stage the NRLWA generates fringe QLD Cup players mostly with the odd stand out capable of NRL. Some of those players would have been NRL material had the systems been in place from when they were 12/13.

    Perth Bears

R&BB have you heard anything about whether the Bears will be running HM and SG Ball programs in Perth?

Bears Merchandise (Jerseys & Other Items)

I'm happy if the Bears colours are kept as is from a heritage perspective. Weary that the decision could be made by the NRL and Norths without input from the Chairman and Directors representing Perth. I hope this isn't a barometer for decisions in the next three months.
