National Reserve Grade

Definitely.

I'm guessing there would also be a structured feeder arrangement from the 2nd tier, so that in the event of injuries players would be "called up" from the NRL club's feeder team(s).

With 16 NRL teams (and 16 NRL reserve teams), you could have 16 NSW Cup teams and 16 Qld Cup teams, and each NRL club would have ONE affiliated feeder in each "minor league" competition.

Heck, you could even play inter-league rounds between NSW & Qld Cup sides as a season highlight.. something I've been keen on for a while.

there would be no need for feeder arrangements with RG being back, feeder arrangement dilutes the integrity of the second tier “national championship” and create a feeling it’s just another reserve grade for the nrl clubs. Better it stands alone and gives retiring/off contract nrl players, players not quite good enough for an nrl contract and potential young players somewhere to get paid to play and gives places with little hope of a nrl team a pro club to support.

32 clubs would be too many, 24 would probably be more viable,

Leave it at 16

And Bellamy has joined the voice stating we need to address fitness of players outside of the top 17

As each week goes by the issue of match fitness for players 18 to 30+6 grows and grows

A NRL Reserve Grade 2h before the NRL fuxture remains as the best cost effective answer and can be shown on TV as well 3 times a week live. With 5 other games available on replay

And can carried forward into finals pre game fixtures as well for the TV broadcasters

Our first NRL reserve grade trial for 2020 will be played tomorrow

Newcastle will play the Cowboys

Wonder how many others clubs start doing the same now we are back to home venues with up to 10,000 fans

It's going to be a 9s game, not sure of the length though but at least the reserves will get a much needed run
