Demise of Qld Clubs

Clubs need to reign in the spending so they can afford a reserve grade, or the nrl needs to fund the second tier to be full time comps. The current reserve grade set up isn’t giving young players what they need to step up to nrl.

Wonder where those blokes who bragged to me about how Milford, Hunt, Granville and Morgan were going to continue Queensland's domination into the next generation are feeling now.
Qld's equivalent of The Daily Shitroll who told us for years how Qld couldn't possibly win again.

Cowboys issue is they haven’t adapted since Thurston left
Titans -As posted earlier, the Hayne shit show/circus
Broncos - the Thoroughbreds aren’t dipping into their pockets since Wayneo left.

happens to most clubs when a once in a generation player finishes up. Johns at Newcastle, Lockyer at Brisbane, thurston at cowboys, maybe smith at Melbourne. It seems almost impossible for clubs to plan and overcome the change over from a PlAyer of this calibre.

Could of sworn I read somewhere that once Melbourne got done for their salary cap cheating, News Ltd, who also owned the Storm at the time, pulled back on the Broncos doing much of any 3rd Party deals just in case anything like that happened again.

reign in what spending? Isn’t there major expenditure wages?
Not much point developing players in an amazing reserve grade if union are going to snap them all up due to reduced wages.

not really, player salaries account for around $10mill, most clubs are spending upward of $26mill a year.

Melbourne's long term dominance of Brisbane players has caught up. Can't wait for Smith to retire.

Which great Brisbane players have the Storm got since Cronk & Smith?

I'm not sure how you think junior recruitment works these days but every club scouts everywhere. Sure the Broncos have an advantage over the Storm and other clubs because young players won't have to move to Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney etc. but Brisbane don't own any player raised in Brisbane, nor can they keep everyone. If they can't keep up they can't just blame everything on clubs with the better junior recruitment and screech "Poached!" at them.

Brisbane's CEO is a hillbilly and a dud.

Paul Green has allowed promising juniors to slip through the system and not change his game plan.

Gold Coast's problems are Darryl Kelly and Rebecca Frizelle.

Gallop allowed the Queensland Cup to be weakened around a decade ago when he didn't oppose the NSWRL putting an end to dual registrations.

Those 2 are the big ones that would have made it likely that Broncos would have won multiple premierships over the last 5 or 10 years and still be a powerhouse now. There have also been several others like Folau and Chambers. Probably Munster would have been a Bronco.
I am just looking forward to the Storm going through a bad stretch for an extended period of time.

Probably been looking forward to that for well over a decade. Keep waiting.

You do realise the only reason your club wins is because the refs turn a blind eye to your blatant cheating in the ruck, right?

Scam Smith was never going to sign for any other club as he wouldn't get away with his grubby acts any where else.

Bellamy knows he cannot replicate what he's done at Melbourne with any other club because the NRL won't let him cheat the system anywhere else. Having a successful NRL team in the home of fumbleball was more important than things like fairness and player safety. Bellamy knows it and has used it to his advantage. The great 'Queenslanders' he has recruited were mostly thugs and scumbags like Slater, Smith and Munster. The sort of people who will break any rule and feign any injury to get the refs to give an advantage to the team who have to win to have any chance of being relevant in fumbleball land.

When the Donkeys offered Bellamy that massive deal he looked like a man who wanted to say yes, but couldn't because he knew it would do to him what it has done to Seibold. His failure as NSW coach proved he is not as good as people make out.

Paul Green is the only resident in North Queensland who doesn't realise the NRL game has changed since 2015.
