Had an exploratory spell recently, listening to stuff with potential reappraisal in mind. Dug out Prehistoric Sounds by The Saints. Still can't get on with this album at all. On the upside, the CD reissue tacks on a handful of blistering live tracks recorded in April 1977 at Paddington Town Hall. Radio Birdman on the same bill, according to the sleeve notes.
Some titles delivered more joy. Sleater-Kinney "The Woods", Spoon "Transference", The Cult "Dreamtime", Type O Negative "Dead Again". All of which are far better than I realized first time round.
Love BAD. Saw them live back in the 90s. A really great concert.Big Audio Dynamite II - The Globe
Still ahead of the curve.

5th run @Vic Mackey
Ive had 2 so far. Hasnt grabbed me like the first 3. The 3 singles, Look to Windward and Even in Arcadia are my stand outs. Found a couple of real fillers imo. To me the first three albums all had mind blowing unique moments. Songs would take you on unexpected twists and turns like no one else. This one, I dont know, feels a bit more basic. Even the heavy riffs just feel like basic tune downs and then repeat for 3 mins.
I do feel this would be an incredibly hard album to make, TBMTE is potentially the album of a generation. Ive never seen a band explode like these guys have in the past 2 years, the expectation and pressure they would be under would be immense, plus signing with a major record label would have taken a bit of control away from them. Its not a bad record at all, if it wasnt Sleep Token and someone told me to listen to it id be like 'yeah this is cool,' but I expected a bit more. Maybe harsh on them as producing four elite albums in a row is basically un heard of.
Interested to see which songs from this come into their set list.
What are your thoughts?
I really like the album, they have def opened their arms to a wider audience. A bit more commercial than previous albums.
Deftones are my fav band, and honestly, for eclectic music tastes, I love these guys. They are carrying on from Deftones. There is inspo from DnB here, lofi, and electronic. I accept them for what they are. Enjoyable album, start to finish.
It feels like what post metal should sound like.
