SOO pre weekend is always a let down

We've had weekend Origin. Logically everything you say is true. Just wasn't the same though, without the hangover at work, gloating over thrashing the Blues etc. :D Ideally there would be an entire rep weekend culminating in Origin. Have a Pac Islands game (in the Islands) on Friday, a Kiwi rep...

I do expect better, and I don't support AFL. Such a shame that you have an express lack of ambition or optimism that teams can improve. Typical southerner, I suppose.

Well, we both agree that 7,000 is a sh*t crowd, so we must have the same level of authority on this subject.

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

For all of the bagging of Souths (and when 3000 + ground staff turn up I bag them too) they are one Sydney club that has made a genuine effort to broaden their support base, increase membership, increase awareness and increase crowds. On the whole, I can't fault them for that.

    Unlike your comment here.

"They" you'll remember was the ARL (NSWRL) in the peace deal.

No, NSW crowds are rubbished when they are rubbish. 7000 is bad no matter what the circumstances.

And the current NRL is proof that nine teams in one city isn't a guaranteed success.

Actually, it's not maths. You're making a prediction. Use of a crystal ball isn't the most scientific process known to man... or boy.

Packed to the rafters? Let's just say that bloke from The Castle wasn't at the Parramatta game last night.

Wow. Three times the number of clubs, but only twice the crowds. Great effort!

Neither does your head in the sand denial that low crowds are acceptable for some clubs.

A poor crowd in anybody's language. Even if Sydney had twenty teams you would have to be on acid to claim this is acceptable.

You don't actually know what per capita means, do you? You have just said that it has nothing to do with it... and in the very next sentence relied on that argument. *yawn* Here we go again...

The moot point was that since we don't have access to these statistics there is no point in basing anything much on them. What on earth that has to do with populations is beyond me, but as I noted in another thread that if you are going on per capita fans than Townsville gives it to Sydney on a...

  18. Sam I Am

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

Fair enough. 13,000 is pretty poor, especially for Townsville. It is an interesting exercise to apply the per capitai argument favoured by Sydney-siders to Townsville. The crowd of 13,000 represents about 10% of the population! If anything, however, that exposes the fallacy of looking at...
