    Favourite Origin Moments

Of course, you're right! :) I guess some of our favourite Origin moments never happened. That's nostalgia for you! Alfy was still awesome though. Will have to watch some highlights of that again sometime.

Don't mention it. I have the 1998-2000 DVD and watch it every year. I have never been able to watch past Game I 2000. Our darkest year.

    Favourite Origin Moments

First Origin I went to was III (I think) at Lang Park. It rained, we sat on the wet concrete terraces and Queensland got flogged. I still hate NSW and love league to this day thanks to that night. :)

    Favourite Origin Moments

1984 (I think, I'm getting old) - Geno's (?) try under the posts in the mud after Wally's kick rebounded off the crossbar at the SCG 1989, Origin II - Wally's 60 metre try. And Alfy going off with a broken leg. And every other bugger getting injured. And we still won it! ... in front of 16000...

    NSW Origin Chants !

I take it that you do not approve of the way the Commonwealth has addressed the increasing problem of vertical fiscal imbalance (VFI) since 2000? If so, can I suggest this bit of doggeral? We don't approve of VFI We proudly wear sky blue We say we play "do or die!" But in the end, we're poo.

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

I don't think that the salary cap should be scrapped. I do think that it is being kept artificially low in order to keep some Sydney clubs alive. Not necessarily. Ratings are at record high levels over the past couple of years, aren't they? And we don't have Balmain, Wests (Magpies), Norths...

If Queensland lose by thirty points tomorrow night then maybe it will drop of the main page for three weeks or so.

Do you really think a thread with this name will die off in Origin week??? :D

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

By the way, I don't think of any part of the competition like that. The NRL is all of our back yard, and we all need to look after it. Any part of the competition being unhealthy ultimately impacts on the other parts. I think that is where this sort of discussion gets bogged down. We all want...

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

I'll be brief. I don't have a comprehensive list of clubs that I would get rid of. I am sure that I posted somewhere in this thread that my gut feeling was that Sydney can probably support about six teams. I don't think any should be given an ultimatum or forced out. I think the NRL should plan...

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

There has been more than one. Hence the use of "eg." meaning "for example". And so on you go through it. Maybe you are too young to have lived through it. Who knows. Either way, "shutting off funding" is what they did to kill the teams in the peace agreement. That is how it happened. The...

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

Firstly, I didn't claim to have a comprehensive 75 point plan online, although you have imputed some kind of final solution to me: Didn't you and I have a discussion of my idea for the NRL in Sydney about three or four pages ago? Around here...

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

You've missed the point by a mile. The question about the salary cap was asked to determine whether Sydney teams are viable. I don't think anybody is suggesting that it be removed. Talk about wilfully misinterpretting something.

Rugby league in dire straits in NSW as Queensland leads the way

Both NQ and GC are thousands higher than Sydney, but it's true enough that Brisbane's stratospheric figures skew the Queensland average. What I don't get is why there isn't a single team in Sydney that views that as an aspirational goal. Melbourne doesn't seem to have a problem with that sort...
