    Gordon Tallis - who we all know was a tough bugger - said on Fox a few weeks ago he didn't rate Gallen as a tough player. Did too many grubby and cheap things in his opinion. I'd say the same. No doubt he's a damaging player on his day but tough is something I'd apply to Petero, steve Price...

    Depends what you mean as old time! I grew up in NQ and watched the QRL and then state league all throughout the 80s. So many great players that don't get mentioned beacuse they never chose to go to sydney.

    As for the spinner ... I'd get Clarke, Katich and North to work a bit more leading up to the series and use them. Besides Krejza we don't really have anyone.

    I think we should take Stuart Clarke, Johnson and Siddle as first choices. Then 2 more from either Bracken, Lee, Bollinger, Hilfenhaus and McDonlad (I reckon he'll go OK in the UK but not an allrounder ... didn't rate him at all when first picked)

    He does seem to be a protected species. He's done well the past year but from Indian series onwards he's been ordinry. With an avergae around 30 he's far from a top class bowler. Jason Gillespie (who had 250 wickets and a better average that Lee currently has) was punted after 2 ordinary games...

    Odd decision to drop him and bring in Siddle when it's almost 100% that Siddle will not play. If there was a chance of Siddle playing fair enough but we all know they won't drop Brett Lee.     It's embarrassing how we can't take a loss on the chin. At the end of the day our players did a few dumb things and the other team won. Sh#t happens. Get over it. In the big picture it's probably a good thing that the kiwis won.

    For the good of the game each NRL club should be allowed to have 2 developing PNG players in their squad/on their books who are salary cap exempt. Naturally, it couldn't be players like Aiton, Costigan et al but guys like Jesse parker etc.

    You goose. Lam grew up in Brisbane and is as Aussie as they come ... the exception being he has PNG parents and may have been born there. The only reason he played for PNG was that he was asked while playing in the QRL First Grade Comp in his early 20s. He was about 10th in line for the QLD job...

    With the tail enders knocking us around why didn't Ponting give Katich a bowl? I know he's not a top line spinner but he has a got a 6-for in India and it would have been worth a shot. Gotta wonder sometimes!

    My thoughts on the Australian Squad: Terry Campese (played great and deserves a selection but he only plays 5/8 and with Prince & Thurston in the side they've got that covered ... would have picked Luke Lewis as he can cover from 2nd row through to wing or another forward like Luke O'Donnell...
