Time to sell the family silver?

Funnily enough we have a great football stadium, just no one uses it. It's called the SFS. Sure it's no Lang Park or Robina, but it's still a great stadium to watch footy in. I hope AFL does buy ANZ so it forces NRL teams away from that soulless stadium.

    NRL Weekend Vs NFL Sunday

As said before, in the US, they have college football shown the other nights in the weekend. (Which actually has a larger viewing audience than the NFL in some games). We simply do not have the quality of competition to support something like that in the other days. The US has a large timezone...

Souths Release Ben Rogers to Dragons

Definitely not a half, but he has potential to be a decent ballplaying lock. Something the dragons seem to lack in their forwards. They would have picked him up for chump change. Could turn out to be a worthwhile punt.

Who are you dark horses 1/2 way through

To be talking of them only as a "mathematical chance" at this point in the comp is as good as writing them off completely. They've won 3 from 13 rounds this season. And you honestly think they can win 10 from 13 in the back half of the season? They'll be fighting it out for the spoon with souths.

The Real Threat to Rugby League, is Rugby League.

That tackle he held on way too long in any era. Shorten the 10 and you won't need to worry about those situations. Quick game but an expansive one at the same time.

The Real Threat to Rugby League, is Rugby League.

Give markers more latitude around the ruck. Shorten the 10 to 7 or 5m. Scrap dominant tackles. Stop calling held so bloody early. Get rid of the video ref from anything other than tries. Then you have a better game. There are too many rules slowing down the game

Who are you dark horses 1/2 way through

They need to get at least 20 from the remaining 13 rounds. There is absolutely no chance of that happening.

St George will be lucky to make the 8

Thats a bit rich coming from a sharks fan, talking about "dreadful teams" to watch. Sharks are one of the most boring teams in the competition. They sit 3rd last on tries scored, whilst the dragons are 6th and only 8 short of 1st. Have a points differential of +62, whilst the sharks have +15...

Gordon Tallis quote of the year

That's funny, I thought commentary was there to add to the experience of watching the game. You have your callers, analysts and just regular commentators commentating the game. Tallis' job isn't to provide expert analysis, it's to provide entertainment and add to the game. Which I think he...

Gordon Tallis quote of the year

I don't mind his commentary. Yeah he can barely spit out a full sentence in one hit, but at least he jokes around and is good for a laugh. I can tolerate him a hell of a lot more than Pearce, Smith, Sattler, O'Neill, Raper or even Brandy's continually biased commentary. Andy Raymond and...

Who are you dark horses 1/2 way through

Dragons, have one of the best defences in the game. And their attack is really starting to kick into gear. When they're not winning, they're losing narrowly, after next week they'll be well into the 8 with the bye.

Is Channel 9's Man of the Match Rigged?

Benny Creagh had a blinder. Soward did some great things, but his kicking was off at times. I would have said the top 4 best players on the park were Creagh, Hornby, Brett Morris and Soward. Creagh was the standout out of that lot however. Channel 9 got this right. As for the plunge in odds...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

Something they've clearly failed in this year if that is your view on marketing. Performance puts bums on seats, your die-hards will goto all your games irrespective, your fair weather fans is where the money is to be made in merchandise and ticket sales. All the advertising you like will...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

I'll highlight the part of the statement you seem to be most incapable of understanding Are you incapable of reading sentences in their entirety? The MOST does not explicitly imply EVERYTHING. Do you disagree with the statement that if you do not perform on the field, you will eventually start...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

Souths stickers has little to do with the discussion of Souths other merchandise as well, I don't see you getting your knickers in a knot over that. I posted in reply to a marketing based statement with the simple reply that the best form of marketing is the performance on the field. If you...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

It was in reply to a statement saying that Souths have the best marketing in the game? Aren't threads allowed to encompass topics in their entirety as Souths performance has everything to do with marketing, they are the brand afterall... It'd be a pretty boring thread if it was just about...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

I agree with you, their effort in recruitment was misguided though. They bought up in the positions that they had covered reasonably, and neglected key areas. Your halves are just one good example of this. Monster forward pack (although you let go one of your best in Cusack), but the backline...

Souths car stickers popping up everywhere?

The best marketing you can do is perform on the field. For all the flashy clothes or toys they have, the thing that affects your bottom line the most is the ability to put bums on seats and get your games shown on FTA. Something that can only be achieved by having strong performances on the...

    SBW's grievance list

Wow that isn't racist at all  In all seriousness though, SBW needs a reality check and the article is spot on. He signed a contract stating his salary from start to finish, if he has just finally realised that in australia we get taxed close to 50% on wages over $100,000 and that there...

Does Sydney get this sort of rain each year?

We also had the wettest November - April in many many years. We are leaving the El Nino cycle (hot temperatures, high air pressure, low rainfall) and beginning to hit normality again. La Nina brings low air pressure, heavy rainfalls, and generally poor weather. Something that up until this...
