    The Roosters' bandwagon

No, it was about the poor level of support shown for the Roosters, then figures were posted that proved that myth wrong, then you made it about Roosters figures vs Bulldogs figures, got absolutely no support, and now you're trying to compare crowd figures from a Friday Night grudge match between...

Ricky - such a tosser - Poor Attitude

Clutching at straws much? How is this a poor attitude? How is this any different from how any other coach in the history of professional sports has handled a press conference after a losing performance?

Joey's been knocked down twice already, he looks a bit shaky. He gets up a minute or so later but it's not exactly reassuring.

    Jnrs parents//season tix benefits

Wouldn't the sheer number of players and parents end up making the benefit void anyway? Sure, you'll get first grabs with the Season Ticket holders, but now there's three times as many people going for the same # of tickets.

    Foxsports Suggestion

Because sports programming contracts are more complex than those for general programming. Fox Sports mightn't be allowed to time shift their channels without coughing up extra for the replay rights to live events.

Would it possible to fix an NRL game?

Easy, get three or so players to miss a few tackles on the tryline. Would work most of the time I reckon. All the would-be fixers have to do is watch old tapes of Chris Walker from grand final matches.

    Did Gallop sell us short?

Like I said, it has nothing to do with their population and everything to do with their importance to the broadcasters bidding for the rights! Channel Nine are not going to fork over more money for the NRL rights because the NRL rates higher in places it doesn't collect advertising money, which...

    Did Gallop sell us short?

In terms of television deals - yes. If we included country figures for both the AFL and the NRL, the difference between the two would still be the same, and the AFL would still be ahead by a million and a half, or so. The NRL has strong support in regional NSW and QLD, but its counterbalanced by...

    Did Gallop sell us short?

Those are not capital-city ratings, which is what I was referring to. The NRL Grand Final had a peak capital city of 2.8 million, the AFL Grand Final had a peak capital city rating of just over 4 million viewers.

    Did Gallop sell us short?

Because New Zealand is a market for Australian television networks? And yeah, the AFL gets whoomped by the NRL (and Iron Chef) in Sydney and Brisbane. But it has a large casual audience - think of the millions of Sydneysiders who watched the Swannies win last season. Can't exactly say that a...

    Did Gallop sell us short?

NRL rates in 2 markets, AFL rates in every market. The AFL can add 2 percentage points to a network's overall share, the NRL can't. Simple as that.

Who did you support in 1994?

Keeping in mind I was at the ripe old age of 11 when the 'war' started and therefore wasn't a big Rugby League traditionalist, I just didn't believe in the Super League idea. My dad being a Bears fan might have had something to do with that. I don't think a single club is bigger than the game...

Who did you support in 1994?

Used to support Penrif, then followed Freddy to the Roosters after the Panthers deserted to Super League.
