Who should win the Golden Boot and why?

Darren Lockyer has not had his best season by any means. He lost in the SOO, Brisbane achieved poorly, he's been disrupted by injuries, and he just hasn't been able to influence games like he used to - which its his job to do as a playmaker!

Andrew Johns is the best player in the world hands down, probably the best ever. However, he too has missed plenty of games through injury and the votes for the Golden Boot are based to an extent on a game-by-game basis, which would probably affect his chances of winning (as was the case in the Dally Ms).

Anthony Minichiello should be the winner simply because he has been a model of consistency - consistently brilliant - even in a very poor Roosters team of 2005. He performs all the duties required of a fullback and even chimes in with those added extras such as setting up tries, not just scoring them. Also, he is by far the most determined and whole-hearted player on the field everytime without fail. His efforts have turned the momentum in countless games (most recently his assist to O'Meley just before half-time against the Poms). A deserving winner of the Golden Boot. GO MINI!!!

(Stacey Jones won't even get a mention here)

Jamie Lyon because he totally dominated the ESL and we all saw how awesome those elite Poms are throughout the Tri Nations series.

Yeah, i did forget about Jamie Lyon... but you could only wonder what Minichiello would do to the poor old Poms if he went over there and played in a good team :)... but yeah Jamie Lyon has a legitimate claim, but would he be able to even break into the Kangaroos with Gasnier and Cooper in such dominant form?

what editing? i didnt take you out of context.
Just pointing out to you that in the opinions of Kent, Ritchie and Hooper, Hodgson was seen as the "best" fullback for 2005. Do those guys have that much cred for it to be the be all and end all? I dont think so.

Youre slipping saad, resorting to this.

And our opinions differ from the journos? We all have arseholes eh?

Mini contributed to his team losing more games than they won....yes, theres a valid reaon right there. Give him the boot.
