Darren Lockyer has not had his best season by any means. He lost in the SOO, Brisbane achieved poorly, he's been disrupted by injuries, and he just hasn't been able to influence games like he used to - which its his job to do as a playmaker!
Andrew Johns is the best player in the world hands down, probably the best ever. However, he too has missed plenty of games through injury and the votes for the Golden Boot are based to an extent on a game-by-game basis, which would probably affect his chances of winning (as was the case in the Dally Ms).
Anthony Minichiello should be the winner simply because he has been a model of consistency - consistently brilliant - even in a very poor Roosters team of 2005. He performs all the duties required of a fullback and even chimes in with those added extras such as setting up tries, not just scoring them. Also, he is by far the most determined and whole-hearted player on the field everytime without fail. His efforts have turned the momentum in countless games (most recently his assist to O'Meley just before half-time against the Poms). A deserving winner of the Golden Boot. GO MINI!!!
