How Much RL Merchandise Do You Own?

I'm jealous of how dragons fans can buy a home jersey and know that it will be the primary design permanently. As a Panthers fan, I have every home jersey going back to 91, which is a lot. I'm hooked on collecting jerseys. EBay is the smartest way to buy them. At least Wests Tigers fans can...

    New ARLC CEO Discussion

That is so true. It's like how every expansion article ends with "team x are competing with bids from team y, team z and Wellington." WELLINGTON! There hasn't been a bid from Wellington for almost 7 years!?!

    New ARLC CEO Discussion

It's like he stole your credit card, rang you up and convinced you too still keep making your monthly payments for the good of the economy. :D

TV Deal impact on RL expansion

LJC, please read the TV rights thread on the main page. It is several thousand pages long. All the issues have been covered ad nauseum to the point where we are just waiting on new developments. Also, due to game/squad sizes, an AFL club costs almost 30% more than a rugby league club to run...

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

That worst case scenario could end up being a pretty good outcome. Sell all 8 games to free-to-air @ $180-$200m for 1 year and really sink the boot into foxtel. It'll just delay our strategic planning, but a forward thinking ARLC would push ahead with that anyway. Although Fox may be coming to...

Segayaro confirmed to Penrith. Official. What are the Cows thinking?

He's 29. Good for the leadership group right now, but you can't really count him in a 5 year plan.

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

Question: How did First & last rights for 9 & fox come into fruition? Did we sell that agreement as a part of a previous deal? Or was it a term of the original Super Leage-ARL merger?

    Leaving a game before full-time?

I like to give opposition supporters such a send-off when they leave early, that I would never give them the satisfaction of the opportunity to do the same back. Also I drive 1.5 hours to get to the game so I might as well watch all of it on the off chance they might get a consolation try.

The T.V Rights Thread Part III

So, an employee of News Ltd says we should not expect much and retain the contract as is for foxtel (News ltd being a significant shareholder). :sarcasm: I guess from his perspective, if he wrote an article suggesting that the rights should be squillions and we should take it to tender on...

    Geography/demography of NRL club support

Here on the Central Coast, heaps of Souths, Wests, and logically Manly & Newcastle fans. I presume the Souths and Tigers is due to migration for more affordable living / property prices.

    2012 Jersey & Sponsorship Discussion

Watching the storm, HOW GREAT ARE COLLARS!!! As in, actual ones! Miss them dearly.

Channel 9 to show NRL games on GEM in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth

I like how it implies that it is some sort of ardous application, vetting & approval process. Like Nine have to argue what economic benefit will filter down to the community if they are allowed to broadcast these matches straight to digital. It's basically a form that the station just needs to...

CQ NRL Bid partner with NFL Franchise

For the vast majority of their existance they have had a home ground in Milwaukee which is still considered their team with a special blackoutzone for Milwaukee, the normal rule is 75 miles while this distance is 100 miles because they are effectively the home club. 2 hour drive, population 1.5m...

CQ NRL Bid partner with NFL Franchise

Defining difference between Green Bay and Central Queensland is that the NFL have a TV Blackout. No TV Coverage unless the game is sold out. In the NRL, if you lived 4 hours away, and your Central Queensland team is playing like rubbish on a losing streak, you will more than likely sit at home...

The TV rights thread part II

Lol. If this doesn’t get overturned on appeal, and Telstra do NOT tear up their exclusivity contract with the AFL / significantly reduce it, then they are a bunch of gumbies. At which point we can treat them as such and put the cleaners through them at the negotiating table because they clearly...

RL independence day arrives - NRL Independent Commission announced

The AFL were at the negotiating table for 2 years for their latest tv deal. We are going to get 8 months if we are lucky. Having to rush is not good.

Scrums - the dinosaur of Rugby evolution.

Someone mentioned holding the scrum until the first tackle. That would be great. What they could do is call all the scrum participants offside until the 1st tackle, and and then treat the first tackle like a normal restart, the rest of the players can trot back into the lines while the ref holds...

    2012 Jersey & Sponsorship Discussion

Coming from the club that can only get sponsors AFTER its owner has lined the coffers of that respective company by doing business with them (QR) , or in the case of the main sponsor, is his FULLY owned subsidiary.

The TV rights thread part II

http://www.newsdigitalmedia.com.au/about-us/management-team/richard-freudenstein Director of the english national ballet, dang it, does that make him an AFL fan by default? On a serious note, he came from British Sky, so he must have a brain of some sort.

Channel 9 not keen on going live for Melbourne Storm's blockbusters or any NRL finals

Didn't 9 state that "Nine will not be losing the rugby league rights" I beg to differ. They can keep their primetime Union, see how that works out for them :D
