    The real reason is everything else had already been booked out in Sydney. Allianz has Sydney FC v Macarthur, SCG has the WBBL double header & Sydney derby, Accor has Coldplay, all 3 booked well in advance.

    I'm pretty sure it was a News beat up. Even if it was true, there is a contract in place between the NRL, Sky & NZRL which guarantees the NZRL a minimum of two home tests each non-RLWC year which can be commercialised by the NZRL.
