Can’t confirm it 100% but I think the V is the same (or super close to) red as on St George. St George red colour is “victory red”.
Yeah it just looks to me to be the same colour and any difference may come down to the differences in fabrics.

I can confirm that the majority red away/ alternate jerseys are red, and do not use the Steelers scarlet colour.
I find that a real shame.

I find that a real shame.

Literally the only ones that moan about the dragons alternate are fans of other teams.

No dragons fans want old Steelers jerseys as the alternate, and the club is aware because whenever they’ve done it, they don’t sell. Up until just recently you could still buy the 2022 Steelers heritage jersey on the website, and they didn’t even do a big run of those jerseys and they were exclusive to the club store.

It’s been 25 years, any old Steelers fans that still support the club have moved past the Steelers. The ones that didn’t were lost and a Steelers alternate now ain’t bringing them back.

Steelers don’t even have a share in the club any more, it’s Saints and WIN TV.
You can think it’s a shame, like maybe it’s a shame Glebe are gone and the Crushers and the Chargers.

Perhaps they don’t sell well because every execution attempt has been less than poor.

I have to travel to Wollongong for work regularly. When I’m down there discussing Rugby League, the merger is talked about poorly and there are often complaints about the current club not servicing the area correctly.

This literally doesn’t matter. Professional sports clubs changing ownership isn’t rare. They are still responsible for the history. Steelers are still a parent club even if they share is owned by someone else now.

Doesn’t mean people who care about the game and/or its history can’t have an opinion.

You can think it’s a shame, like maybe it’s a shame Glebe are gone and the Crushers and the Chargers.
I’m able to have opinions on the game I love without being permission of what I can and cannot think, thank you.

At the end of the day it’s just an opinion, not sure why it effects you so much that you felt the need to reply in such a detailed way.

What makes a jersey an 'Illawarra' jersey? Does it just need to be predominantly scarlet? Or does it have to have white bars? And if so, how many? (The Steelers went from 1 to 5 over their life) and where do they have to be? Or is it only an Illawarra jersey if it's a replica of a Steeler kit?

If it has to be a replica, that's pretty limiting & ignores that even the Steelers recognised the need in the last few years to add more elements to their kit.

If it just has to be predominantly scarlet, then at least the club has been doing that pretty consistently since 2006.

I'm not a Dragons or former Illawarra fan, so I am curious what scope people on here are willing to let the club work with?

The alternate jersey is primarily red - that is enough. People saying that it should be worn in every game at Wollongong or whatever are kidding themselves, why would the club trash their most recognizable branding tool for something that was around for 15 years? People in their early 30s wouldn't even remember the Steelers.

By my count they have had all red / Steelers designs in 06/07, 11-13, 16/17 (albeit with watermarked dragon artwork) and 2020. On top of the times they've worn it as a heritage or whatever. I have no issue with them wearing it from time to time, I would prefer the blood and bandages as I think it is a beautiful jersey but that won't happen again. I just think what they've dished up the past four years with Classic have been absolute garbage, and before that with XBlades wasn't much better.
