The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It was never going to be just a rugby league stadium, but it still is mostly a club football ground. I still think there was a strong case for reducing the capacity in recognition of that. But It needed to be done in conjunction with making Accor stadium rectangular.

    Resting players before finals

Which basically means we’re going to play the winner of Eels vs Storm in week 1. Would’ve preferred to play the cowboys, but if the guys need a rest then no option.

    Greatest Side/Era put together!

I still rate the 91 team higher than this one, main reason being is they had a winning record against the Canberra Raiders over the 90/91 season, that Raiders team is one of the greatest teams in history. I think the winning record might even extend back to 89. There’s a few ways you could...

Round 23 v Souths. Posts by @iamback are all opinion based

Fwiw, I reckon the team we most likely play in week 1 of the finals is the Cowboys. Followed by Storm and then Sharks. Sharks have a super easy run home, Storm a little tougher and Cowboys have to play us & Souths in Sydney.

    New stadium - 2025

They won’t leave Penrith without a stadium, once demolition has started it’s locked in. Once government changes hands, politicians tend to change their tune on a lot of things. It just wouldn’t make any political sense for Labor to cancel a stadium when they’ve won. If the costs blow out they...

    New stadium - 2025

If they dump the paceway plan, we only need the demolition to start for this to be locked in.

Round 23 v Souths. Posts by @iamback are all opinion based

I’m a little concerned about limping into the finals. It’s understandable with all our injuries/suspensions, just a touch worried what that‘ll do for team morale. But on the flip side this run of Storm/Souths & Cowboys might’ve really taken a physical toll on the team before the finals, so it...

    New stadium - 2025

Three sides stadium designs are everywhere Obviously it would be preferable to build on the paceway site, but if the costs escalate to a level where it‘s not feasible then a 3 sided stadium on the current site is far better than nothing.

    New stadium - 2025

Compulsory acquisitions must legally be negotiated for a minimum of 6 months in NSW, and even then it could go to the land and environment court. If the paceway play hard ball it could drag on for a very long time.

    New stadium - 2025

You said Labor are *against* it. That’s not the same thing as refusing to commit to it. It’s not hard to admit you got something wrong, mate. FFS you can be an absolute pain. You could build an excellent stadium on the current site, nothing says you need a big stand at the southern end. The...

    New stadium - 2025

Well that’s not what you said. You said they don’t want it, that’s not the same as refusing to back it. There’s plenty of time to lock this in if the club is smart. I’d immediately abandon the paceway plans and shift focus to the current stadium site. There’s over 7 months before the next...

    When have they said that?

    New stadium - 2025

Just spitballing here, but there might be an opportunity for Penrith stadium to host some country music concerts due to its proximity to the central west. If the stadium is a little smaller than Parra it might also attract concerts that aren’t confident of selling out larger venues?

    New stadium - 2025

No, I don’t see this being cancelled. The government has already upset the NRL too much, plus the importance of the Penrith electorate. I’m very confident it happens, just a matter of which site.

    New stadium - 2025

Starting to think the paceway plan will be abandoned. Looks like the paceway are in negotiations with some developers for that site already, I don’t see the government matching that offer. Perhaps an option would be a staged build of the new stadium at the current site? First build the eastern...

    New stadium - 2025

It all depends on replacing parking with good game day public transport. Given this is prime land I don’t see them building a major car park, it’s just not cost effective. So let’s hope they put in some good game day bus routes.

    2022 Round 20 Panthers V Eels

No choice but to accept it. If he fights it and loses that means he misses the first week of the finals.

    2022 Round 20 Panthers V Eels

5 games for Nathan We face a serious prospect of going winless for the rest of the regular season now. The Warriors game we should probably win, but the other 4 are tough.

    New stadium - 2025

Dude, I’m talking a perfect scenario. The best option would be to run a game day bus service, even in places that don’t already have good bus connections. Now, it might not happen, but it’s a better option than a multi story car park or people clogging the streets.

    New stadium - 2025

That‘s why you put a game day plan in place. No reason you can’t bring in buses just for game day.
