The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Accor sucks, I hope theres as few games there as possible.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

This whole situation is utterly absurd. Clearly Souths thought Accor was going to be redeveloped, you wouldn’t commit there long term otherwise. The govt are trying to keep Souths at Accor because they don’t want it to turn into a white elephant.

There is going to be a train line run in that direction (North - south), but 5km to the west.

Nah that’s not a good location, no public transport. You’d need to build a massive car park and that’d ruin the parklands.

There’s no train station down there, though. It’d have to be up near the Blacktown sports park. You’ll find with all these new stadiums there’ll be very minimal parking, the emphasis will be on public transport.

The NBL have been actively talking about a second Sydney team, I think you’ll find the comp is in better financial shape under its new owners. I mean it’s not a juggernaut or anything, but they’ve been kicking some goals.

Round 25 Vs Cowboys @ QCB Stadium

They‘ve still got a shot at a home final, so they’ll go very hard. (Admittedly it’s unlikely as the Knights will have to beat the Sharks)

Round 25 Vs Cowboys @ QCB Stadium

That‘s hardly the same thing. You’re coming up against other teams that haven’t played as well. I’m particularly concerned with how little our halves will have played. As I said, I get the need to rest some, just not sure about all 13.

Maybe we should try and buy the Macarthur FC team and move them to Penrith? Not like they’ve got a heap of fans.

Round 25 Vs Cowboys @ QCB Stadium

I’m not totally convinced about resting 13 players. I‘d understand resting some, but 13 is a huge call. If we win next week, Luai will have only played two games in two months come the prelim.

NBL could be possible, maybe Netball as well. But unless the Aleague give MacArthur the flick I don’t think we’ll see another Aleague team in sydney. The market is already saturated

I don’t see what bigger gets you? For the Panthers, certainly 25k is better. It’ll provide a superior atmosphere whilst still providing room for growth.

Building costs in the UK are just so much cheaper than here.

Why would a bigger ground necessarily attract anything else? For concerts there’s a 30k seat stadium at parramatta. There’s no point spending extra money to justify an expense for it not to be used.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

It depends. As I covered in my seperate post, there’s an opportunity with the paceway site to make it a real community asset. Parklands, cafes, play equipment could be installed around the site. At the current location it’s just be a stadium, not much room for anything else. I can see an...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Capacity is only a part of the upgrade, I’d argue a more minor part. The Eastern stand is 40 years old and has almost no weather protection, poor toilet facilities and poor access for disabled and elderly people. The western stand has seen some upgrades but it still has little weather...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The business case for a single tenant stadium is poor, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. But I believe there exists a cultural case for such a stadium, a few points * The centralised stadium policy was always a poor one, it ignored the realities of Sydney being a city of villages *...

Seats were moved at Parra because they put all the corporate seats on the one side, that isn’t the case with Allianz.
