    Redcliffe put their hand up

Agreed, this was the first time the idea of the 2 teams coming from SEQ made sense to me. I’m still all for Perth being #18 but if I were to be completely selfish for my region, I think this article’s option could actually work.

A different take on two new teams. I like this idea! https://www.theroar.com.au/2021/04/29/an-alternate-and-simple-pathway-to-18-teams-that-will-work/

    NRL two conferences

Cool image for it mate! Also your retro team logos are mint too- have you had a go at the expansion teams from scratch?

    West Coast Pirates Bid News

I don’t hate our logo and have never really thought it needs a change, but have have heard a bit of neutral hate for it lately. I just think it’s something that could get seriously messed up with this change.....

    NRL wants two conference comp

Straight from Australian Bureau of Statistics, Melbourne is gross largest, Brisbane is per capita.

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

As I’ve said a fair few times before, QR do direct trains too from Petrie to the city, making it about 1/2hr trip. So if you get the right train, you can half the time.

    West Coast Pirates Bid News

A As a Titans fan, supporter and member- absolutely no. Our colours actually represent something real about the coast (surf, sea, sand). The response from the fans to getting our colours right this year has been overwhelming positive and the club accepts it is a move in the right direction.

    NRL wants two conference comp

It was good to hear PVL hose it down on NRL360 tonight. Hopefully common sense prevails here.....

    NRL wants two conference comp

Quote “Who would be opposed to it? The teams in Sydney would be thrilled. It will generate more interest, greater crowd numbers and potentially allow the NRL to sell Sydney conference games at a premium to broadcasters. The teams in the outer-Sydney conference may not be as ecstatic. They...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

    D) What benefit outside of inner city (or this case- country) rivalry is this going to generate? I still haven’t heard any convincing arguments otherwise

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

From personal experience, when I go to QRL games (usually Pizzey Park), I’d say an average crowd would be 3k-5k. I follow the Falcons though and I know their average crowd is over 5k. What’s your experience here, Donkeys?? So yeah, thousands would be within these stats.

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

Y You’re absolutely correct on who wants a second Brisbane team, it’s the large numbers of fans in Brisbane that don’t want to support the Broncos, hence why there’s an appetite for the team. But it’s not all about demolition too mate. Being a former Broncos fan (now a Titans fan) it’s more...

    Central Coast Bears NRL Bid.

For what it’s worth, my idea for the area is this:- No one is getting relocated realistically unless a team seriously fails hard financially due to the NRL committed to maintain the existing footprint. Further to this, Manly won’t stop playing at Brookvale anytime soon pending something...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

Honestly, I’m on your side of the argument and agree with a lot of your points in principle, I just have now given up any thoughts of rationalising Sydney (and think one more Brissie team is enough). The NRL will do everything to maintain the status quo there, and unfortunately most Sydneysiders...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

Well take solace in the fact that there’s zero desire in NRL HQ to change the landscape in Sydney. All else is mental gymnastics. The NRL being NSW centric is a reality but it’s a flaw in our game and not a feature. But again, it’s the situation we have and to fix this would cause more harm...

NRL's growth mindset points to 18th team. And it ain't Perth.

I get why you are reacting the way you are, but sorry champ, Sydney is not the comp- it’s the NATIONAL RUGBY LEAGUE. Without the other teams, it would be nowhere near as strong or as popular as it is. To highlight this, Sydney teams have won 12 NRL Premierships, non Sydney has won 11. What would...

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

That’s my point exactly, it’s not that everyone in that area supports the Broncos, but they are evenly spread through most of SEQ, being the big/only dogs for over 30 years. The Broncos never tried to appeal to a suburb/area (they actually try to appeal to all of Queensland as stated in their...

"It’s very realistic to say that we’ll have a second team in Brisbane in 2023": V'landys

You’re not delusional mate, you’re on the button here. The Broncos are supported from Logan to the Sunshine Coast, and out through the Darling Downs. I don’t have specific data (would be great to get from the Broncos directly) but you just have to look at where the public transport heads to in...
