    Off Season 2024/25

Kohli out on the last ball of the day was huge. But we still have work to do. Bowling India out for 46, in India, just has to mean we win. There's no other way. 1988 was so long ago.

It has to be a cry for help. Same with Addo-Carr. These guys aren't bad guys they just can't handle being NRL stars. Not everyone can be Jonathan Thurston.

    Off Season 2024/25

I don't know whether to laugh or cry but members of the AFL Giants have been suspended after their end-of-year costume party. One turned up dressed as 'Jarryd Hayne' (complete with a blow-up doll) and another turned up as 'the taxi driver'.

    Pacific Cup 2024

Who put the Roos in the stew? The Kiwis, that's who! If anyone can tell me where that famous banner appeared you'll be in top form.

    Pacific Cup 2024

We need a run of good results against them in order to make things interesting. One-off wins are great but it can't be back to 'normal' now where the Roos are just too good. In the '90s and early/mid2000s I just recall far too many hidings. It was almost two decades lost.

It took me about twenty seconds to make the connection. Hoppa less so, I reckon.

Dallin will argue his hair is worth 50% of the contract. His manager will quietly argue it's worth more.

And talking about fairyland I woke up to hear the Black Caps has bowled India out for 46! Unbelievable.

A bummer for all those Tongan fans. They're a fun bunch and not getting over the line was disappointing.

    Pacific Cup 2024

The greatest. It's sad Mark Graham was injured in the first test and missed it. But, with all great moments, you never change a thing. His replacement (big Graeme West from Taranaki) was superb. NZ TV audiences fell in love with Daryl Eastlake that night. We were distraught in '85, when TVNZ...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Smith - a West Coaster (so my father loved him) - was there in the '83 win too. Tough and unassuming, the perfect foil for a more flamboyant, running halves partner. Most of that team deserved that famous win, as they were there the year before at Lang Park, when we lost in the last minute or...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Varley was old school in the '80s for sure but it was his starring role in that historic, Graham Lowe-led, win at Lang Park in '83, that is seared into my memory. Varley was gone and Clayton was a household name in that memorable '85 series and he was also there when our young side of...

Season 2025 Changes I'd like to see.

Look at him. Kosi's a big boy and he should be ripping in. It's frustrating because he's still on our books.

    Pacific Cup 2024

I'm a funny one. When it comes to the Kiwis I think I tuned out after '91. So, when it comes to 'memorable Kiwis' halves', Shane Varley rings out in my head over Shaun Johnson all day. Varley had Daryl Eastlake though. Therefore, it's a given.

    NRL Finals 2024

A hardcore Penrith fan - whose had decades of volunteer work with juniors and local refereeing - told me today that the team were arrogant and dismissive of the supporters - including heaps of kids, of course - who lined up for hours to meet their heroes on 'fan day' last Tuesday. They just did...

At his best he was an onfield psycho and the opposition were truly terrified of him. Even I was too, and I was definitely not on the field and I was supporting him. Cheers MM.

He's one of the Eels' best but that doesn't mean there isn't a gentle nudge by management.

    Pacific Cup 2024

Will he answer a few desperate calls next year, and beyond, from the Warriors? Actually, according to (Adam) Blair's crystal ball we'll be in line for a premiership in 2027. That's a 36 year old SJ right there!
