Match Discussion: Round 19 vs Manly @ 4 Pines Park, Brookvale / Cammeraygal

Honestly, we're just there to be someone for Manly to beat and have a party today. We're a complete non-factor in this match, lol.

    Knights Lower Grade Stuff

We keep hearing about Leo's brother, Tyrone. I've all but assumed he's coming at this point. It sounds like there's going to be a lot of unproven, but potentially exciting talent coming into the forwards from next year onwards.

    Knights Lower Grade Stuff

Well, sounds great to me. I guess the next question is how far off is he? How many years are we operating with effectively 1 less player in the top 30 that can play first grade? Or are we basically signalling here that we expect him to hit first grade in 2025?

    Knights Lower Grade Stuff

I'm keen to see this kid play and see what all the hype is about. Does anyone know what the cornerstones of his game are? Hard worker? Powerful? Ball skills?

Match Discussion: Round 19 vs Manly @ 4 Pines Park, Brookvale / Cammeraygal

It's the nature of errors too, they're not all equal. I think people are generally more forgiving of an error by a playmaker trying to create something versus a prop forward dropping it cold in a regulation hitup.

    2024 R19 Sun - Manly 44-6 Newcastle @ 4 Pines

Yeah I don't mean to disparage the kids we are sending out there either. They are all actually very good prospects with a lot of potential (except perhaps Mapapalangi, not sure on him at this point). Maps has had a hard road full of injury to first grade. 3 or 4 years ago he was definitely a top...

Match Discussion: Round 19 vs Manly @ 4 Pines Park, Brookvale / Cammeraygal

Was Pryce really that awful on the weekend? I thought he defended really well and looked dangerous running the ball, but yeah made some errors. He's going to make errors, we need to expect them.

    2024 R19 Sun - Manly 44-6 Newcastle @ 4 Pines

I don't think it's impossible for the Knights to win, but I do think it's embarassing for Manly if they can't beat us given the circumstance. It's all well and good to talk about DCE and his importance, but I don't see in which universe he's a much bigger loss than Ponga is for the Knights. We...

    2024 R19 Sun - Manly 44-6 Newcastle @ 4 Pines

2 backrowers in the centres, an unproven junior centre with a handful of games on one wing, dick-fingers Marzhew on the other, a 3rd game rookie at 5/8th and an average halfback plodding about on one leg. If Manly can't beat that backline - handily - then they don't deserve to be playing finals...

Match Discussion: Round 19 vs Manly @ 4 Pines Park, Brookvale / Cammeraygal

Looking at that backline, I think we just need to chalk this one up as one of our remaining losses for the year. I'd be happy/confident enough seeing one of those blokes filling in somewhere, but all of them at the same time can't end well surely. 1, 2, 4, and 6 have a tiny handful of games...

    What's with the raiders fans?

Ah yes, when I was young, stupid and angry. Cringe, but good times.

Match Discussion: Round 18 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

Which will turn into good news once we have a viable replacement. Hopefully we're not getting ourselves in a situation where we end up holding a big wad of cash and no-one to take it. Fear of that happening isn't a good reason to re-sign Hastings either, though. Considering our roster as it...

    Around the Grounds

They'd be better served putting Gags on the wing and running Cobbo in the centres. Bradman may well give Gags an absolute bath if they don't.

    Around the Grounds

I wish Ponga wasn't playing, he seems a bit underdone and needs some more footy under his belt. Gags I'm very happy for, deserving.

Who are Manly going to have out? Just Cherry-Evans and Jake Turbo I think? Obviously Chez is a big out for them.

Match Discussion: Round 18 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

I don't really care where he was playing, he's the senior playmaker on the field. Do you think MItchell Moses would ask permission to make a play that he felt needed to be made? Ben Hunt? If he wants to hobble his ass around an NRL field every week on one leg, it would be nice if he was able to...

Match Discussion: Round 18 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

That's an on-the-fly decision a good halfback makes, coaching or not for mine. You're a footy player, you're an NRL halfback, sometimes you need to put your big boy pants on and call an audible. However I find it hard to believe teams are coached to not kick touch finders if the situation calls...

Match Discussion: Round 18 vs Canberra @ GIO Stadium Canberra, Bruce / Ngunnawal

Yeah, and we're both old ones now mate, lol. There's no-one that we have that's better... but for mine we're going through too many periods of games where we need an early kick for touch or to run our shapes more and we're just caught lacking every time. That period where we kept dropping the...
