Moffat said (back in June I think) that Endacott and Kidd contacted him to try consolidate. They met but Moffat wasnt keen... according to him anyway. If Endacott tried the same with the Orcas and got similarly bounced, there seems to be a common theme emerging lol

Aside from some of the more marginal personalities involved, 3 bids for a small market like CHCH is way too many snouts in the trough. Would've thought far better to consolidate all potential investors into a single well backed proposal, but seems egos are getting in the way.

    Pacific Cup 2024

I agree if we get more players switching it's not helpful for the Kiwis, but will it really affect domestic footy here that much? We used to have players progressing into the Kiwis from the domestic scene, but now all our test players are drawn from NRL/SL clubs, who in turn recruit from school...

Actually yea fair point, RTS has massive standing doesn’t he. I think Gardiner said Roger was the catalyst for Nanai switching too.

    Pacific Cup 2024

Luai was quoted a couple weeks back saying Haas would’ve toured with them if fit. If true, the Samoan exodus could be underway. A locked in starter like him jumping ship in the prime of his career would almost certainly influence Samoa eligible players on both sides of the ditch.

That’s not on them though. The Origin eligibility rules already state a player must be eligible for, and elect to play for, Australia. There’s actually nothing there that explicitly allows Tier 2 aligned players to be selected. The loophole exists because of separate IRL rules designed to...

    Off Season 2024/25

I'd probably have done that if someone had said we'd win even just one test there. Especially after 0-2 v Sri Lanka and Williamson getting ruled out. This really does make the Halberg team of the year award interesting because normally gold medalists are a shoe-in during Olympic cycles and...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Bennet advocated for that change quite recently but given it'd only only expose the Roos to a potentially stronger Kiwi team with no benefit to them, I'll be surprised if it happens anytime soon. If at all. There's too much self interest at play and if I'm honest, I don't blame them. If we were...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Could be wrong here, will need to watch a replay to see for sure.. but did it seem like the Kiwis deliberately played on the edges more in the first 40? Seemed like Fish especially was passing at the line a lot more than I’ve seen him do before. If so, that was definitely a coaching call - a...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Kiwis will be much better next year if they get their full complement of players. NAS and Leota will stiffen up the middle even more; Hughes, Brown and Smith/JMK completely change the spine dynamic and Nikora will add genuine threat on the edge. Biggest issue will be in the coaching box cos...

    Pacific Cup 2024

Well played MMT, deserved the win. AFB and Taumalolo were immense in the first 30 especially. If they can repeat that effort they’ll give the Roos a good run, but they’ll need to figure out how to keep the momentum going when their two main men get spelled.

When there was chat about Verrills possibly heading back to the Roosters I thought Des might've lined up Hunt to play 9 but that chat seems to have died off. But whether 9 for the Titans or 6 for the Dolphins, Hunt would fill a key gap in both teams' spines. Next year already shaping up to be...

Very tough. Katoa's kicking game v Roos was terrible and IMO played a key part in them dropping that game. He's a classy player though so I'd be surprised if he isnt much much better this week. Which will make our boys' jobs even tougher.

TNZ won team of the year in '17 when they won the AC in Bermuda and interest wasn't great then either given the downer in San Fran a few years earlier. So I wouldn't put it past them winning the next award, and I think they'd be deserved winners too. The cricketers - men and women - obviously...

Yea man likewise, had that game on VHS and must've watched it hundreds of times. Never ever got tired of the Blackmore/McCracken try in the corner. And doing "the Lonergan" became a thing after that game didnt it lol... way funnier at the time than it probably should've been, but different times.
