News Michael Maguire sacked by Wests Tigers

Yea which makes him ideal for rep coaching doesnt it... short stints of intensity but not so long that it wears players down. I'm gutted we lost him from the Kiwis, and almost as much for NSW. What's the verdict on how he'll go in Brisbane? Feels like his intensity is just what they need. Add...

News Michael Maguire sacked by Wests Tigers

Holy shit what a fking knob. Somehow he's done the impossible and is actually now worse than Kenty ever was on that show, but he's set a new bar there. FMD.

    NRL Finals 2024

Yea unlucky alright... but gees the nominees are a helluva strong bunch. No shame missing out to those lads, and he must've been very very close. Tapine's game against the Roosters has to be one of the most brutal games from a front rower I've ever seen. The man was smashing everyone.

Did the meathead actually say that? That Madge is no better than Kev?

    NRL Finals 2024

Yea I agree, the time of year should be irrelevant so glad the judiciary chairman emphasised that in his summary. That said, IMO the grading was excessive. I'm comfortable that his poor record is reflected in the ban loading, that's entirely appropriate. But that was a Grade 2 at worst in my...

News Michael Maguire sacked by Wests Tigers

To be fair he didnt want to ditch the Kiwis. Obviously would've had to now if he was still with us, but at the time it was only NZRL's spineless amateurism that forced him to walk away.

    England v Samoa 2024 series

When do we find out who's confirmed themselves available for Samoa? Talagi and Utoikamanu are being mentioned and would obviously be strong additions but surely there's a risk they'll instead opt to commit themselves to a full preseason for their new clubs. And yes, I know Ponga got himself...

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Going on tour was always going to happen given the stupid amount of money they paid. But given their itinerary it'll mainly be to get acclimated, rather than any expectation to play. Joe's a smart coach; he wont put him on the pitch until he's ready. He'll be a gun no doubt, its just how quick...

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Wow that's a big loss for them. He's a very good player. Never saw the best of him at test level for whatever reason but he would make a very good outside back for an NRL team.

    NRL Finals 2024

Actually yea now you mention it, I can see how it could become a minefield. Shame though.

    Pacific Cup 2024

I caught the game live and as funny as it always is to see someone play the ball backwards, soon as I saw that I knew NAS was in the shit. But yea, wasnt expecting a Grade 3. Thought G2 at worst given the other players around the tackle area and Collins' drop in height.

    NRL Finals 2024

Yea that's the one I sat on for a bit. Went with Dearden in the end only cos Luai's best club games this year were at 7 and when Edwards was also playing a major role organising the attack, so may have pinched some points from him. But wouldnt argue with either of them getting it.

    Pacific Cup 2024

Yea goneski now. Luckily for us, its the one position we have enormous depth in. Dunno how many props Stacey will pick, but assuming no injuries/suspensions this week he'll still have Fish, Leota, Tapine, Thompson and Neame available.

    NRL Finals 2024

Yea and its pretty much mirrored last year hasnt it, where top 2 - Penrith and Broncs - were miles ahead of everyone else, including 3 and 4. Both us and the Storm got spanked in each of our games against the top 2 last year and the same's happened again this year for the Sharkies and Roosters.

    NRL Finals 2024

Anyone know if NZ TAB has opened any markets on the winners? Might put a sneaky on this multi if I can Fullback of the Year - Dylan Edwards (Panthers) Winger of the Year - Zac Lomax (Dragons) Centre of the Year - Stephen Crichton (Bulldogs) Five-eighth of the Year - Tom Dearden (Cowboys)...

    NRL Finals 2024

Ha yea, amazing what a 600m govt. sweetener will do. I'm fascinated to see how they're going to attract players TBH (with respect to them). The so-called NRL city they plan on building will start to feel very small very quickly.

    Season 2024 in Review

If you don’t already follow this poddy, this one is a really good watch with Bellamy. It’s in 2 parts, the first one is a bit about his playing days and how he got into coaching, but this second part goes into the coaching stuff a bit more. Talks a little bit about employing the person before...

    Rumor Mill

Hopefully we're trying to uncover our own Will Warbrick. With a proper Cup team in place there's a pathway for developing a convert. Be a lot cheaper and there's some good ones worth looking at in the 7s program. Those guys are as fit as mountain goats and I think the Storm were actually...

    Rumor Mill

Agree, he's got the onfield runs on the board for sure. But he (and Dallin) will be 30 next year, that feels back end for a specialist winger, especially if outright pace is your biggest weapon. If we were shopping for a wing I'd be looking for someone earlier in their career. That recent...

    Rumor Mill

Yea that wasnt great; his father in law did some good things but that wasn't one of them. He signed AFB too. Maybe Cappy and Webster will draw that line in the sand.
