    Why is that unfair? Wests Tigers were formed in 2000, Melbourne in 1998. Or are you saying Wests should get two payments based on the Magpies and Balmain?

    Ipswich’s traditional colours are green and white, yellow is a ring-in extra colour arguably for the reasons stated about third colours

    I don’t get the fascination with orange and blue. also interesting that the Brisbane Jets swim club is based at Langlands Park (Easts) and has the same orange/blue colour scheme

    Agreed. Redcliffe is too geographically limiting, but Sunshine Coast is a massive area. Wonder if the Falcons will try for a bid.

    Perhaps it’s silly but I’m all for Brisbane remaining a one-team town. I’d much rather see Redcliffe, Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich all be added. Maybe even Logan if population growth warrants it. Have a town vs town rivalry (which already exists) rather than eating into an actual town itself.

    Crushers posted good crowds in 1995 too. The Broncos / News Ltd influence is far less these days

    The Titans were confirmed in 2005 for a 2007 start so there’s precedent. I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t a formal bid process and the NRL just picks one

    Good points on ownership, but News Corp didn’t take control of the Broncos until the 1990s. The original owners were ex BRL players. One of the bids for the licence was somewhat QRL-backed (Ron McAullife was involved) and that bid was going to do a percentage back to the QRL from memory. The...

    2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

    I think the new deal had something about Fox not being able to on-sell the rights, which they currently do to Telstra. Kayo, as a wholly owned subsidiary, probably doesn’t get impacted by that. The exclusivity of it will be interesting to follow
