    What if they split it? 2 magic round events in the same weekend? With 20 teams (10 games) you could have 5 games in each location. Eg. 5 in Bris and 5 on GC; or 5 in NZ and 5 in WA. This would also ease the destruction of the field that we currently see with Suncorp being cut up badly before...

    The NRL also owns the Gambaro Hotel just up the road from Suncorp. It’s in the NRL’s interest to have big events; especially RL related ones, in Brisbane.

    Pretty sure there was mention of RL being added as an Olympic Sport for the 2032 Brisbane games. So if true it would mean the the Olympics is very relevant to RL and a new Brisbane team; especially when you consider marketing and exposure to a potential overseas audience.

    Which ones are you talking about though? The Sydney teams that have been deleted? the only WA franchise that was unfairly pulled because they chose the wrong side? Tbh, if you’re talking about the former then I don’t think those effects are as harshly felt now as they were back in the early 2000s.

    I honestly believe the better option would be to allow Perth to stand on its own as it will probably be more stable and then have PNG with the Bears. PNG will probably use the bears colours anyway and it gives them an established resource of developed grassroots players to make them a bit more...

    Re: PNG, I think they’d still announce in one hit who the bids will be and what year they will come in. I think your idea will still be used though; maybe to reveal the team name and colours on the anniversary of independence (assuming it’s not just the PNG Hunters being promoted to NRL).
