    Pacific Championships 2024

For example, each year a rotating NRL club could be assigned to Pacific Island nation where they sign 5 players under 20 that can be salary cap exempt for 5 years. Poach the best Union guys who dont want to learn Japanese. Hold an NFL style international combine etc. The athletes are there.

    Pacific Championships 2024

You don't think League can do what Union does? Offer their best 15/16 year olds scholarships in a NRL system?

It 100% can be done mate. That Tongan rugby side is about 50% local born and developed to at least school boy age.

    Pacific Championships 2024

Shit loads mate. Jap rugby for example gets them at 15/16 years old. Euro rugby snaps up about 30% of their Under 20's teams. There is 'development' that can be done even though their populations are tiny.

    Pacific Championships 2024

There are no Edwin Ipape's or Theo Fage's in the Islands. 99.9% of their talent and player pool will always come from South Auckland and Western Sydney.

    Pacific Championships 2024

When I hear words thrown around like 'development' and 'progress' regarding Samoa and Tonga it makes me cringe. As much as they are short term fix and a shiny new toy in the international scene. In the next ten years PNG, Fiji & France have so much more potential. The reality is the best...

    Pacific Championships 2024

There is a World Cup every 4 years. Make it a standard across the board rule of one switch per international player per world cup cycle if they qualify. Tier one or two it doesn't matter.

    Random International News

Toulouse in Super League for five years would quite literally solves 99% of International Rugby Leagues problems. 30-40 Full time professionals working under both club and a high performance unit similar to Argentina in Rugby When marketed *CORRECTLY* they can get 15k to cities like Avignon...

    Pacific Championships 2024

I strongly believe we do not have a real international product until France have 2 teams in Super League with a 50 French qualified players running out every weekend. The game needs another genuine non heritage based international team from a big economy. It automatically solves so many fixture...

I would be shocked if Australia covers the 16.5 start. Tonga have a point to prove after their average tour last year

    Pacific Championships 2024

I think 99% of International Rugby Leagues problems with meaningful fixtures and public interest would be solved if this Pacific Championships eventually become a Nations Championships played every second year, alternating hemispheres. I like the pools of 3 format as their is essentially no dead...

    England v France 2024 - 90th celebrations

If Costa, Fages and Rouge can get some quick ball then I can see them staying in the arm wrestle for one half of footy. England by 18.

    England v France 2024 - 90th celebrations

The key to their development will always be Toulouse in Super League (with Catalan) for an extended period to increase there player pool at the highest level.

    England v France 2024 - 90th celebrations

Just looking at other French players across Super League who could squeeze into the test team Tison - Maybe Miloudi - No chance, liability without the ball, UTC reserves & Toulouse players with more to offer. Chan - Yes, a bench middle/edge Salabio - Nope Sangare - Bench middle Goudemand...

    England v France 2024 - 90th celebrations

Toulouse will probably have 3-5 players in the French side. Catalans has had an all French spine for a few games this year and will most likely stick to combinations that have been at a Super League standard. England by 16 - 24 points for me.
