    PNG's back.

Seriously mate you couldn’t come across as more ignorant if you tried. All those examples either required brutal takeovers of other lands (something that shouldn’t be celebrated or is even an option now) or b) required massive flows of capital going into them because they served some strategic...

Btw the discovery of Americas which was a pretty big turning point was pretty lucky. It definitely wasn’t planned.

    PNG's back.

Mate, Europe worked their way out of poverty through slavery and conquest in the most part. Heck European history is riddled with internecine wars and battles and after 1494 with the Treaty of Tordesillas and the commencement of colonial empires therein began the essential raping of other...

    PNG's back.

The problem against PNG isn’t the money being spent (well it shouldn’t be because foreign aid is foreign aid and an increase in foreign aid is at worst unremarkable and at best socially beneficial) it is the logistics. Essentially it is a can it work argument. Think of your own experience in...

    PNG's back.

We are called the ‘lucky’ country (as Spike Milligan once said) for a reason. Massively deluded like the Yanks in believing that some sort of inherent exceptionalism exists. That’s why you get absolutely ignorant comments like why can’t poor countries be more like us or some sort of other...

    PNG's back.

Mate it is in the interests of a governments like ours to issue foreign aid in order to promote some sort of economic and social stability around the world. Foreign aid is a good thing. You could argue whether this proposal is good but foreign aid is a good thing because it pays for itself in...

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

    There certainly is.

    18th club, whose next?

We get it you don’t like Perth but any area in Australia or NZ is different to PNG. You know it because you even argued it yourself.

    18th club, whose next?

No think of it logically. One requires government intervention for an indefinite amount of time and one doesn’t.

No he is right there is a massive difference

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

Talking Heads is much more interesting than most of these threads

Rugby Australia to target top NRL talent

That song was off their Fear of Music album (great album by the way) and that was a fair bit before 1988.

Nrl plans for a 20 team comp

100%. It’s probably going to happen unfortunately but the next three sides is easy (in whatever order) NZ 2, Perth and Brisbane side. Done and done.

    PNG's back.

They wouldn’t do it because there are plenty of locations that could house sides and they already source a c***load of talent from Central America, Caribbean and South America without having to stoop to putting an uncompetitive side there.

    PNG's back.

Sorry to derail this thread into stadium talk but there would be no point in upgrading a stadium if the plan is to build one - a new stadium probably won’t happen because it is seemingly all bluster down there but I would leave that to somebody down in Canberra to comment on that

    PNG's back.

No Rudd and Turnbull pretended to like the game when it suited.

    PNG's back.

Hope you’re right on the latter. I don’t know what they will be funding though - they can’t decide where it will be located and in what form it will take

    PNG's back.

Oh well they probably will but that doesn’t mean I have to think it’s a good decision. I hope it works but it is a monumental risk and a risk we are not obliged to make. Sure, but he could do a better job at it. Fund some stadiums in Australia if you want.
