JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

Yeah, that's a bit naive I think. As Gordon Tallis said about his own upbringing from a white and aboriginal parent "it doesn't matter how much milk you put in coffee people just see coffee." Maybe if he was treated like all the other white kids that would be a fair comment, but I don't...

JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

Think he did initially to be fair - but it's been going on for 18 months now pretty consistently every away game he has. Everyone's tether runs out eventually and 18 months to me says he's proven he has been pretty patient. We've never seen anything like this in League - the level of vitriol...

JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

You reckon it's just Goodes' supporters do you? What about all those losers claiming they were threatened and upset by an imaginary spear?

JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

Yeah I kinda get that. My brother lived in redfern when he was a student and he developed a serious hatred of Aboriginals because of the ones he encountered in the area - he copped some serious abuse from a lot of those guys and it definitely made him pretty intolerant in return. Same as you...

JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

Ok I think it's fair to say the people defending the booers are wel and truly losing the argument here. Some seriously pathetic arguments have been put forward here.

JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

I'm just going to blow in here - only read the last couple pages, but whilst I get how to someone who has seen really awful stuff this whole thing with Goodes just seems like a lot of fluff, I also reckon RoosTah is right with his point that relativist arguments can be applied to pretty well...

    West Coast Pirates Bid News

Yeah I have to say I'm a fan of what they've done with the whole pirates thing

    West Coast Pirates Bid News

That doesn't really make any sense ... Red Kangaroos are found in almost every state and territory, so it's no more symbolic of WA than a dingo. All these names can't help but be manufactured and it's been so long since the Super League team that I think going back to them would be a little...

how does decider reflect on the kangaroos?

I suppose next year will tell us more, but it's pretty clear that the Kiwis and Kangaroos are certainly more EVEN in terms of competitiveness these days than NSW and Qld are. At first I think people just thought the Kiwis were flunking it, but they've been increasingly consistent every year...

    NZ Expansion

Agree 100%. Having a look at a lot of the other comments here it seems a lot of people are getting sidetracked by pointless arguments about NRL and NZRU incomes (hint: they're both doing well but they're also not the only ones competing for our talent so which is stronger is kid of...

Cherry Evans backflips on the Titans

Crazy from Manly. DCE is good, but he's not worth sacrificing other good players with a package that massive. He's no JT or Cronk and he's not going to do anything behind a forward pack with no go forward

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

lol AFL. Rugby may not be huge like soccer but 5 teams have made the WC Final in its short history for 4 victors and the next 5 teams after the ABs don't have win records over that period over 65%.

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

That's pretty thin for an argument. Kinda like saying Lebanese or Asian immigrants to NZ shouldn't give a stuff about the Haka. They still do if they grow up in NZ and watch rugby for the record. I don't really need to convince you of anything though. They look like they're going ahead with...

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

Whatever mate. Your arguments seem to be "focus on the footy because this stuff doesn't add anything", and "better to just stare the Haka down". I'm just pointing out that the All Blacks are probably the most successful sporting side on the planet over the longest period and they're pretty...

You mean the World Cup we lost? Yeah, that worked a treat didn't it?

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

Well I don't have any English ancestry, but I'm happy enough for us with our flag even though it's not very representative, so I don't see how this is really any different. We're just taking a part of the origins of this country and incorporating it into something broadly representative

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

In the 60s the Kangaroos performed it in the way the Kiwis did the Haka - half arsed and in teams with no indigenous players. But you're right, if you get the indigenous boys to lead the thing and make sure everyone buys in passionately, then it has great potential.

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

Fair points Diego. Good comparison with Europe too - I remember reading that there were 300 Aboriginal nations in Australia before white settlement. Is there no real common thread that could be drawn on though?

Why an indigenous war dance would set rugby league apart from other codes

Yep, because the embraced of indigenous tradition has really reflected on how little the All Blacks care about how they play Rugby Union right? That 80% win record over 100 years is clearly just a temporary blip

US Government to extradite FIFA officials on corruption charges

Wonderful news. FIFA are one of the scummiest organizations on the planet. Seize their assets and dismantle them.
